THUNDERSTORM FORECAST - FRIDAY

Discussion for Friday:

Issued at: 11:22 PM Thursday 19th April 2012.

The trough of low pressure off the New South Wales coastline will continue to linger near eastern Victoria on Friday and may at times move into the region, causing unstable conditions to that area of the state. A second trough is likely to move into western Victoria during the day and extend to central areas later, also causing some instability through the upper levels. It is considered a risk at this stage for isolated thunderstorms within the areas indicated above due to the instability coupled with the convergence of the troughs and also the available moisture that has been filtering into Victoria for a few days now, plus the colder upper temperatures. If thunderstorms develop there is a small risk that severe activity could occur, and all phenomena are likely; damaging winds, large hail and flash flooding.

Next Update is due by 9:50 PM Friday 20th April 2012.
