Re: Victoria: Showers/Thunderstorms - January 24th-28th 201

Rain ....... Would be nice to see. Lightning could be a disaster, everything is so dry, even the native trees are struggling, 2 months ago the gums started shedding leaves more than normal, and now it seems they knew more than us. I have never had to regularly water the citrus trees, even during the...

Re: Unsettled Weather - Showers and storms. Sep 16th - Sep 2

We got 20 mm in about 20 mins somewhere just before dark maybee 6-630, didn't take a whole lot of notice at the time, the lady of the house just came home and said dirt road is destroyed, all on the nth side of the road will need to get out their shovels and remove 2-3 feet of crushed rock road base...

Re: Its Spring!

Despite the nice weather winter is still here... ( better than londons summer though :D ) Magnolias are starting to flower, just in time for the seasonal winds to blow through and strip it back to the bone, it happens every year. We've got two large flowering cherries, they haven't even budded up ye...

Re: Developing Pressure Trough - Potential Widespread Rainfa

Only 8.5 mm for the event so far up in the yarra valley, cant say I'm disappointed, anything over 25 mm causes flooding up here as the ground is saturated. If anyone has an idea of which day will give good wind but less rain for Friday Saturday, ive promised to take someone out kite flying before th...

Re: Frosty mornings and thundery afternoons? (26/06/2012 - ?

Light drizzle in the upper yarra, paddocks around launching place and wooriyallock are somewhat flooded, although roads are OK, had the channel 7 helicopter doing footage for the news last night, but waters have moved downstream with the worst of it. Donna buang and toolbewong have disappeared into ...

Re: AWF Rainfall Details - Monthly rainfall stats

Another month.........

Saw moderate flooding in the upper yarra valley around the 21/22, waiting to see if today's event brings the 4-8 mm predicted by the BOM or the 50mm forecast here :o

June 117.5 mm
YTD 482.5 mm

Edit.... Map doesn't show my April figures of 79.5 mm.

Re: Burst of winter 23rd - 27th May

Ive been watching this thread for a while, expecting the BOM to say something, given the excitement about this event.... And yet not a blip other than areas of rain ( as though it's just another wet day) will be most interested to see how this pans out. Would like a little more detail about how the ...

Re: Extended wet spell May 1st - ?

Mostly a lurker here, but I do regularly check the discussion that goes on as I find it way more informative than the BOM, Looking at the radar, I can't see their prediction of 2-6 mm being of much value. Living in the upper yarra valley, the weather does not have a huge amount in common with a metr...

It seems like ground hog day, every weekend has become a rain event, particularly as I have been planning a weekend away with my girl, and I have to keep canceling.
I'd love you all to say, nup it's not going to happen but ..........

Re: Victoria: Upper Low drifting into Vic from NSW 25-27 Nov

The la Nina pattern from last year is continuing, heat waves in Perth , downpours here. It is also green here, usually the grass heads up around cup weekend then browns off, the ride on mower is getting a workout here every week still. As for rainfall totals, a new record if we get over 50 mm , will ...
