Re: Warm with possible heavy falls developing: First week of October

Is actually raining atm in Wodonga but nothing showing on the Yarrawonga radar.

I’m guessing it’s down but you usually get the “images are not available” message when it is.

Anyone see anything about it anywhere?

Re: Vic Trough/Front Nov 2-3 2019

Very different rain amounts forecast for here depending if you look at "Weatherzone" or "Bom" on the WZ site. Obviously use different models but strange how they can be so different. Given the "event" is on our doorstep I would have thought the various models would be i...

Vic Trough/Front Nov 2-4 2019

Forecasts looking good for a decent drop up here in NE Vic on Saturday. The raincast on BSCH has the most falling slightly east of here in the NSW/VIC high country but I hope it wiggles its way West a bit in the in the coming runs. Really hope it’s steady rain over a longer period rather than storm ...

Re: Victoria - Troughs and possible low - September 1-7 2019

Reports filtering in of a tornado at Peechelba. You can see the radar signature in the start of the loop. The cell below. It was a strong left mover. Yeah that was the cell where you can see the rotation in the doppler. I wonder who issues the warnings from the vic emergency app. Here is the warnin...

Re: Victoria - Troughs and possible low - September 1-7 2019

Created an animation of the wind doppler for the NE Vic cell. Anyone think it was a tornado? Looked strongest near Springhurst. Sure had the Emergency Vic people excited. Got a warning similar to a bushfire warning. First was an advice message then it upgraded to an emergency message - that's one be...

Re: Victoria - Troughs and possible low - September 1-7 2019

Just been issued an "Emergency Warning - Thunderstorm" for the cell heading toward Wodonga. I am in Wodonga and it's raining but not too bad ATM. Looking at the radar the worst may just be to my south which may be a good thing. I have had thunderstorm warnings via the Vic Emergency App bef...

STW current for Wodonga area. There sure looked to be some rotation on the wind doppler a few passes ago right near Chiltern. Any experts care to give an analysis? Cheers.

Re: Victoria: Thundery then a major rain event - 28th Nov to 4th Dec 2017

Crikey! Just listening to ABC Victoria talking to the BOM about this upcoming event. Senior Forecaster Scott Williams was saying it is shaping up to be the biggest rain event he has seen over his 30+ years at the BOM. Was giving comparisons to the 1994 floods in Benalla and over the NE. I remember t...

Re: Vic - Mar 24 to 28 Warm to Hot with a showery / possibly stormy finish

Very violent storm passed through Wodonga shorty after 5 this arvo. My brother's weather station recorded a gust of 120kph! I recorded about 5mm in about 5 minutes but I reckon most of the rain flew past the gauge sideways. The Emergency Vic site had about 180 incidents recorded after about 5.15. To...

Was 44°C here today. Forecast 42°C. Currently 30°C. Had the splits running hard all day (work from home). It's lovely inside, but my power bill is gunna look like a phone number. Yikes.

Re: Big Low 8 May - ?

Been raining solidly in Wodonga since the early hours of this morning. Up to 77.4mm for this event.

The weird thing is that the Yarrawonga radar isn't really showing heavy rain here at the moment, but it's still raining now fairly steadily. Not sure what the go is there.

Deep Low Heavy Rain Vic April 16

Long way off but boy I hope it eventuates. Hopefully a good Autumn break at last. BOM don't seem to be too keen on the idea but WZ is progging 20-40mm for here (NE Vic). Oh and as I type they've gone down to 10-20mm. I guess it will swing around a bit until the models can get a better idea during th...

Cheers.

Vic: Cold front & trough April 29-30 2014

Gee it's quiet in here ...

Anyhoo, any thoughts on the forecast rain event statewide next Tuesday? Looks promising for a decent drop, until we get the usual downgrade that is. Mind you the forecast has been pretty steady over the last few days so surely something is in store?

Cheers.
