What has really stood out to me is just how stuck the synoptic patterns have been over the past 6 months. It’s not unusual to have blocking highs or repeating troughs, but the highs in particular have been stuck for very long periods, including right now. I was looking over my records recently and e...

A bit of a humdrum phase of weather. A big dominant high to our west and south and patterns generally stuck. It has been raining on and off here this morning from a southeasterly stream of showers, but has only produced 1mm so far. Feeling chilly though, especially in the wind. We'll finish April wi...

5.2mm here since yesterday evening, mostly falling as drizzle. Still waiting for a good rain event, but it seems unlikely this month. Interesting that the IOD has entered positive territory. Not sure if it will actually last long enough to be officially declared a positive IOD, but if it does, then ...

Yeah there's not much to report at the moment. Looks like high pressure will be dominating for at least the next 10 days, possible the rest of the month. So not a great deal of rain apart from some showers across southern Vic at times, maybe adding up a bit more in areas like east central and Gippsl...

4.6mm here overnight and this morning. Probably won't get much more today, and we're on the margins anyway. But east central will likely do well for a while longer and I see the rain has pushed down into SE Tas.

What a night. 87mm here. We were hit hard. Storms were mostly going around us yesterday and, after going into the evening with only 5mm, I thought maybe we might clock about 20mm all up. But it just unleashed with intense rain at times, all going for a solid 6 to 7 hours, plus some additional bursts...

Nice to finally be on the cusp of something. Everything's looking good for decent totals, with the main event later today and overnight. We've got a strong northerly here, which makes me a little less confident due to the potential for rain shadowing, but hopefully we'll still do OK. At this stage, ...

Yeah it's hard to put much faith in the models next week, especially when we are still quite a few days away and they're jumping all over the place. One thing to note, but still can't be all that confident, is that GFS is at least showing more activity this time. In the past couple of months, it has...

A bit of drizzle this morning, but nothing meaningful.
We really need some rain now. But unfortunately it's still looking dry for the period ahead. If we end up with only 3mm for March, which seems likely, that would make it the driest month I have ever experienced living here.

Yeah it's not looking promising for this week. Maybe parts of the north/north east of Vic might also get a bit. West central and further west is looking mostly dry now. Model runs seem highly volatile at the moment, which is never a great sign. This has been an extreme couple of months. We've had a ...

19c and dark and cloudy this morning.
GFS is still not interested in much rain this week in Vic, except maybe east Gippsland. Other models are a bit over the place, but have generally downgraded overall. Might be something better in a week's time, but it's a long way out.

Glad you got some rain HB. A bit of cloud around today, which feels like it's taking the edge off it a bit, although it's still 30c here at the moment after an overnight low of 21c. Hopefully we'll still see some rain on Wednesday/Thursday, but there is a wide divergence between models. In the lates...

24.9c was the minimum here. I'd have to go back through my records, but I reckon it would have been many years since last having an overnight minimum that high, if at all. For the coming week, there's still a fair bit of movement on the models. At this stage, rainfall totals are looking fairly modes...
