Re: Victoria: High Fire Danger - December 15-17th 2009

Is it just me, or does the incident summary on the CFA website get cut off a bit now? On the right hand side where No. of Appliances should appear, it's cut off! Page is also taking ages to load now that the DSE map is on there too.

Re: Ill stick to the pool for now

LOL, yep Sniper, and a gentle float down the river is always nice too. Ooooh, I wonder if we could do that with the red wine and leave the kids on the bank? Or would that be irresponsible parenting? Hmmm, on second thoughts, you probably couldn't float, hold wine glass, balance dip & bickies AND...

Re: Ill stick to the pool for now

Have you guys ever seen shark nets? I always thought they were quite high up in the water, maybe a few metres from the surface but in fact they're only a couple of metres from the bottom of the ocean floor :o Apparently they don't physically stop sharks as such, rather they interfere with their terr...

Re: Xmas time

Like Sniper, we're up to Eildon on Boxing Day (will be sure to use the Alexandra route so we don't hold you up on the Spur lol). Unfortunately my new manager has decided that I can't have time off between Christmas and New Year (I have some choice words I could say about that, but I shall refrain :x...

:o What's happened to EC? Earlier it was hinting at 50+ mm next week and had "heavy rain" in the forecast, now it's showing approx. 5mm for this area

Re: Victoria: Cold front - showers and colder temps - 10-13 Dec

Thanks Tizz, you were right, the wind didn't last too long earlier, perhaps up to ten minutes but was amazing to watch the rain going sideways in pockets of gusts (I can't quite describe it but was fun to watch!). Gauge is showing 12.5mm but I don't think it managed to catch the stuff travelling hor...

Pouring down here and very, very gusty. I doubt much of this would be landing in the gauge, things are flying around the backyard!

Very very dark immediately to the western horizon here. Looking at the radar, it looks like Karl has got the orange and yellow stuff headed straight for him, whereas I'm just south of it... AGAIN! *stamps feet* lol

Re: Victoria: Cold front - showers and colder temps - 10-13 Dec

Still hearing thunder in the distance, it's a fair way away to my N/NE (either that or the sound is rolling back off the Dandenongs to me). I'm guessing about 7mm from what I can see of the gauge through the windows Karl. I don't want my hair to get frizzy going outside to check (what a girl  ...

Lightning here and a big booming crash of thunder, really loud, raining quite heavily here and has been for at least the last 15 minutes.

Re: Some rain possible with a front & Upper trough Dec 7th-8th

Wow, how about all this rain, hey? I spent the morning gridlocked in traffic in the northern suburbs, finally got to Macleod after 1.5 hours of frustration then onto Smith's Gully. Water is everywhere, huge puddles, lots of drains backed up and unable to cope. I took a few photos from my phone but t...

Pfffft! What's with all the temps in the 20's? I KNEW this would happen - I finally get the air con in today that I've been belly-aching for for years, and now there's no hot weather
