Re: VIC: Wintry burst of showers Alpine snow. June 28th-July

2 mm of rain this morning and a steady 3 C. Feels like snow weather for us but so far none. (In contrast to the 17th when there was no hint of snow, forecast or otherwise, and we had a 20 minute blizzard!) I'm heading to the coast for the rest of the day so my next meaningful reports won't be until ...

Re: Vic - rainy change next weekend 25-27/6/10

Nafets, Eildon is rising impressively for June - last time it was higher at this time of year was 2001! http://www.g-mwater.com.au/water-resources/storage-levels/ I'm guessing its still short of the Bonnie Doon Bridge, but not for too much longer at this rate. 27 mm our total for this event, 74 mm f...

Just hit here - pouring; heaviest rain of the event so far. Assume it's the actual front moving through. Edit - it is, wind now WSW.

Re: Vic - rainy change next weekend 25-27/6/10

Geez, Bendigo scores again - on track to becoming the new Weeaproinah! A humble 12.5 mm so far here, but more than happy with that as we're presently in the lee of the Divide. Yeah, we've been doing well this year (almost doubled our average for the year so far), but god knows we deserve it after a...

Re: Bureau of Meteorology expects a warm dry winter

Not that I place much value in the Climate Centre seasonal outlooks (almost the kiss of death for my area!) but the July-September outlook is just out, and it's swung back in Victoria's favour - basically predicting average rainfall & average max & min temperatures.

Thanks for that Jane - I'll keep the number handy for future reports. Glad to see Clyve's report showing our low level blizzard wasn't entirely an isolated event.

Re: Victoria: Westerly Change - Wed/Thur/Fri 16-18 June

Thanks for the welcome Sniper - no pics, we usually get a couple of decent snow-on-the-ground events each winter so I save the camera for those. Temp. back up to 6 C so snow chances obviously gone for now. Still, a nice surprise while it lasted. Btw crazy winds just before the snow really started. L...

Re: Victoria: Westerly Change - Wed/Thur/Fri 16-18 June

After months of lurking on this great forum, finally decided to post after a totally unexpected blizzard here at around 10 this morning. (Here being a hill top south-east of Ballarat, 610 m asl). Excitedly phoned the BOM thinking they might be interested given the vast discrepancy between their fore...
