Not far below the snow line, a thick covering on Mt Victoria pretty low down, would say I would reach it if I went for a little walk

Well the best snowfall in the sequence here this morning - started around midnight and going on and off since. 5 to 10cm depending on aspect.

This also makes it the first time (I think - will double check records later) that we've had 4 settled snow days in a year during our 22 years here. Certainly the first time we've had 3 days of settled snow in 4!

Definitely need to invest in that heated snow gauge :).

Sticking to everything:

Downside is tree damage when it stays sub-zero and snow accumulates for hours; one big gum brought down by the weight of the snow and two big branches.

Have to head to Bendigo soon so it's going to be a challenge to find the best spot to cross the Divide - most passes anywhere near here are 700m plus...

Good luck with that Gordon
Castlemaine Facebook is saying it is a complete whiteout between Gisborne and Kyneton.
Traffic down to one lane on the Calder and moving slow.
You would think Daylesford will be worse.
Video shows it looking as good as any high country trip!!!
As for me just cold and showery, no white stuff here

All funny here just saw a car get to the spot in the road with no bitumen and stop dead - all covered in snow. Plenty of tourists here yesterday to see the snow that didnt happen.

Got that right, just taking picture outside and could hear the trees coming down up the road bit scary that.

Bass strait and the bays has pumped energy into the snow surge this morning. Snowed for quite a while and settled locally. Very unusual in daylight hours for here at this elevation. Incredible event locally in the Macedon Ranges and seems like that as well for the Dandenongs and parts of the Yarra Valley.

Amazing event for you Gordon! 3 out of 4 days at just over 600m ASL :D :snowflake:

edit: more snow

It is one for the books JS - this event has certainly lived up to the hype; for our place at least. Suspect we will end up with 60-70mm of rain (equivalent) for the dates as well, but will have to wait until all that snow in the gauge melts to know!

Off to Bendigo now so signing off to concentrate on the driving - looking forward to seeing more pics when I get back this evening!

No snow here... plenty of rain though, now sitting on 31mm for the event so far. I can see the Werribee river starting to break it banks down in the valley below.

Heavy hail shower has just hit!!
