My sister built a house near Rockbank, and naturally the first thing that went up was my weather station. The climate couldn't be more different compared to the south east. That area on that side might as well be part of a different country. It is nothing like the rest of Melbourne. More like Alice Springs with all the dryness and red earth.
It was certainly a shock to the system when I moved here 12 years ago, especially when it came to the clay soils & climate. The soils don't bother as much as you learn very quickly how to work with them. Climate on the other hand, well that's a different matter as your know doubt fully aware of through my constant ranting.
I probably notice the difference in climate more than most having properties on either side of the bay. The fact that the climate is so different out here is probably the main reason behind my criticisms of the BOM's "all eggs in one basket" approach to some of the Melbourne forecasts.
Anyways, enough rambling. Not a lot happening here, just more gusty westerlies.
Event virtually over for this area. Time to look ahead to the next major system.
Caroline Springs, Melbourne's meteorological boredom zone.
