37mm for the event so far. No damage but there was a little hail in some of the stuff we got. Looking forward to see what tonight and tomorrow bring. Still 19c here.
hasn't 'rained' here since 1pm. Been dry and gloomy with WSW winds and quite cool. I see Ballarat's forecast as backed right off. Only up to 15mm for tomorrow now! 10mm from last night and 15mm from today so 25mm.....75mm short of what the media predicted; doom and gloom! NEXT

Another flooded garage here in Croydon. The rain has been on and off all day but that last torrential downpour about an hr ago with thunder and a little bit of tiny hail in it has caused the issue. Hate to think what it’s goibg to look like this time tomorrow!
I think thats about the first report of hail, well done.
I was thinking the same thing Stevco, backed up by the BoM’s updated severe weather warning map. Melbourne and the eastern suburbs are right on the border, anything to the west can basically forget it!
It's funny how people say why hasn't the BOM picked up on it and now you're wondering why they said things like it's a 10 out of 10 severe storm. Seriously make up your minds people! You were all here concerned about the models, then kept saying nothing will happen, ect. But in the end there's still heaps of areas around Melbourne and within Victoria that have flooded from this system so far. Today I spent the rest of my day filling up sandbags at work. Just because nothing has happened in your area, doesn't mean it won't happen somewhere else. Just watch the news and you'll see there has been flooding in Melbourne such as Preston, Coburg, Roesbud, ect. This system mainly focused on the Eastern side of Melbourne.

That's not in debate, it's the scale at which this event was hyped. It's just not good forecasting at all. There was talk of 150mm in Melbourne the day before. Given many parts of Melbourne flood with a dump of 20mm, there's also nothing unprecedented.
I'm not overly disappointed funnily enough, as I knew it would most likely be a little more lowkey than anticipated (Hillybilly called it way early on). I don't even blame the BOM, there were so many variables that had to fall into place at the right time.
No BoM bashing from me, as said above they’re in between a rock and a hard place. They either don’t get on board and the general public get caught out and we bash them, or they do jump on board and people flog them for over hyping. I’d much rather them plan for worse case scenario and it not eventuating than the alternative.
True but stating 10 out of 10 severity, cancelling lots of events and talk of 150mm widespread and 300mm in some areas got a lot of attention. Absolutely dire warnings of threat to life and property. There will be an enquiry about why it was a fizzer as most model watchers here also thought the same until the last minute downgrades. I guess there is still time but it feels like the tropical air has cleared out - I may be wrong.
