Tropics day to day weather talk

Post by JasmineStorm »

Just opening up this topic with some large unseasonal rainfall totals coming out of parts of tropical Queensland for the start of July. Totals around Mackay and just inland are very impressive for this time of year.

Hi weather watchers.
With another 13mm overnight things are very boggy again around here.
Our part of FNQ could really do with a few weeks of that post card weather that they sell to all the tourists. lol

Be good to see a bit of activity here in the dry season so we can all be ready for the real weather when it returns.

Cheers

Unusual weather for Chillagoe. A lot of cloudy skies since the wet season, so not quite the extreme lack of humidity, although there's still a few months to come. The occasional 1 mm has kept the dust reasonably settled.

In Cairns Wednesday and Thursday nights. A tray to wake on Friday to everything wet.

The days are lovely. The nights are cool, but not cool enough to report a 'coolest night/morning so far'.

Yep Jasmine, Bunyip keeping track of rainfall is very handy for those living near him. I've given up recording my rainfall and just make an imaginary minus ten percent of his since that's been our history given his position on this ridge.

Must be nearly a fossilized shack by now hey ? :)
A tad below 8 C at the moment here, expecting about 6 before dawn, have had the Turkey chicks sitting in a wine box in the bedroom overnight for the last week. Brrrrrr......

Ha, Marakai! So you emptied a wine box out of charity, good man!

Yep, darned cold, two doonas and dog night, seems Cairns racecourse bottomed out around 5.30am at 8.

And the rest of the forum are thinking we're wusses, I'm sure.

Dropped to 11.2° at sunrise.

Edit: Apparently a partial lunar eclipse tonight, around 9.30pm.

8.8 deg going by Sth Johnstone this morning, probably closer to 7 deg here, did some one say it's cold? :o
Yeah, the house was shut up like there was an impending invasion last night, trying to keep the cold out.

Ha, if your comfort zone is 28 degrees you may not get out of bed for weeks now.!

And I've been running a 39C fever with a foot infection from pruning, dammit, and I wore long gauntlet gloves too. Can't win.

It was 17 degrees inside when I finally thought I should get out of bed, I think it was about 25 outside. Bummer about the foot infection, hope that clears up quickly.

Well, it was a comment on temperatures which is within the realm of a weather forum but I was just having fun. Am fine now with meds so another drop to 12C overnight will be felt just a badly as the rest of us up here. At least the lawns will have finally got the message to hibernate..
