28.4mm in the gauge and now clearing. Very happy. Would it be greedy to ask for 1.6mm of mizzle overnight to round it out. MTD just shy of 50mm. Nice to be running ahead of average after a shocker December. Temp down to a chilly 11C with thick fog. Gauges around here showing generally 25-30mm. Couple around Belgrave and Lysterfield have topped 30mm, so a really good general fall out this was :D

Looks troughie all next week with more fog, showers and storms. Tends to favour eastern areas, but something big could brew towards the end of the week. Let’s hope so ;)

Northeast still waiting for the rain. Wanting to see those gauges starting clocking it up.

Edit> 28mm at Walkerville so tank down there is full again. Hoping it gave a bit of a flush after the muddy Smokey rain last weekend. Water is undrinkable there atm (and apparently similar through much of Gippsland from the fires) with an awful Smokey taste.

22mm here and just fantastic - it will keep things green for a while. Hopefully next week also pays off and everywhere gets more rain. The rain band width seems to be contracting as it heads towards eastern Vic - hope it brings lots of steady rain there to put out the fires but not put ash into the river that will kill the fish.

Fantastic 18mm in my backyard. Nothing like the 400mm+ totals that are falling over the top end right now, but extremely welcome nonetheless.

Few sparks flying as the band passes over gippy, but it's accompanied by rain, so not too troubling.

18mm in the gauge for me, and a pretty sunset.

At 15.4mm in the Melbourne rain gauge today, Melbourne equalled the highest daily rain fall for all of 2019. There was no wetter day than that of 15.4mm on Jun 3 2019

It’s officially Melbourne Olympic Park’s wettest day since 15 December 2018!

The current 15.6mm surpasses the previous wettest day of 15.4mm on 3 June 2019

Wonder if the media will pick this up/BOM will tell them ??

A mere 12.5mm here, but more than I was expecting, and our first double figure total since November! Not that I'm complaining, we had a pretty good 2019.

Now hoping East Gippsland and NE get something.

You almost wouldn’t think to look, as it’s not exactly a big total. Does go to show what a shocker last year was :o

Btw, not quite Victoria but Dunn In Mirrie southwest of Darwin has just clocked up 460mm since 9am. Only needs another 100mm to break the NT record. Gotta be a chance. Looks to be the second highest total on record for January in the NT :o

With Melbourne's highest daily being just over 15mm, it's no surprise the city didn't even crack 400mm in 2019.

Maybe this is a good omen? :(

Can virtually lock in that it will be wetter than last year (which was utterly awful).

A dribble overnight pushed us to 29.0mm in the gauge. Bit disappointed that the rain faded as it it the northeast and Snowy Mountains fire grounds. Bad luck for them. And... looks like a pretty emphatic daily rainfall record for the NT. Record rain, record drought, who would have guessed :o

We rounded out at 15mm yesterday - our single biggest daily total possibly since last summer!

Yesterday just after the Rain started here in Ballarat I posted that I thought we would be Lucky to get much more than
about 3mm's here.
Very Happy to be proved wrong. 12.0mm's up to 9am today best fall since November 8 last year.
MTD now 14.8mm's. Ballarat Airport had 9.6mm's but Looking at local PWS's most of the area had between 10 to 15mm's.
Lets hope this is a good year for Rain, 7 of the last 8 years have been below average.
Average for the decade (2010 to 2019 Inc) was 627mm's - 60mm's below the long term average.

13.6mm here, which takes us up to 34.8mm MTD. January 2019 only totalled 20mm, so we’re already doing better than last year.

Finished on 29.6mm. About double what I had expected, and more than I had hoped for.

Nice cool spell yesterday and overnight. Max of just 14C and this morning down to 9C. Have missed the cooler weather. Got the fire blazing. Lots of branches down in the yard from the hot, windy, wet sequence :?

BoM just tweeted, that last years peak daily fall was the lowest on record in any year. I had no idea.. ony three years in 150 years when there hasn’t been a fall over 20mm. That’s grim :o

Explains why we just had the wettest day in a year :?

If EC is correct we should better that falls a few times in the next ten days.
