Yeah it looks quite promising for some reasonable thunderstorms for a week across SW WA and the inland. A stalling trough, middle level disturbance and fairly useful moisture supply should see scattered showers and thunderstorms develop across the region, including a very dry Perth come Sunday-Tuesday. Could be some local falls of 30-50mm over the sequence and the potential for severe weather developing.

Very good news for the region that has copped one hell of a summer.

Looking forward to the chase reports!!

Hey John, pre thanks for doing a chase forecast! :D I will hopefully be heading out mid-late morning, after the sounding is up and having a look at some other models. I will msg who ever and ring the observer at the airport during the day, might have a lappy so will connect if I stop at a macca's lol.

Come on WA! Lets show those Victorians what we can do. :P I'm still a Victorian at heart though champs!

Should be some showers and the chance of a thunderstorm move down over the next few hours but should lift to cloud and then break up overnight.

Hopefully not too much junk around tomorrow but could be quite productive rain wise.

unplug electrical appliances and avoid using landline telephones. If caught
outside find shelter away from trees, powerlines, storm water drains and
streams. If driving through heavy rain slow down and turn your lights on or if
visibility becomes low pull over and park until it passes. For SES assistance
call 132 500. For more safety tips visit www.fesa.wa.gov.au

Thanks again john! Yeah I was thinking of going north of perth, like seeing the development yesterday that was around jurien bay. Have full cover of low junk atm but can see by the IR that it will clear from the north and looks like development will eventually explode in that clear slot. I'm thinking of heading off around 9-10am to jurien bay and then go inland depending on whats happening.

There was some dist. lightning lastnight pretty sporadic though, said to wife that if it were closer and more constant would have gone down to the beach for shots.

I know Brayden is in the area, I had a missed call as I was in a meeting. But certainly positioned well if anything gets going.

Should report as soon as I hear or someone else hears what is going on.

All looks like a stormy drive home tonight in Perth. Something that people are not used too and it will be chaotic if things go completely nuts.

Greg Spencer just called me as he is driving through Ocean Reef. Currently experiencing 1.1.5inch hail, I could hear the cracks on the car, extremely loud and random, BANG BANG, vis dropping down to 200m on freeway, stacks of CG lightning as well. And the cell further N is a lot stronger, def the storm to be on though weakening a tad now. Meso also on Ocean Reef cell before hitting.

Geraldton trace was impressive for low level shear and turning.
