We are in a World Cup year and we will see the excitement build here in Australia, as the Socceroos prepare for South Africa.
We also have the finals of the A-League upon us, with Melbourne Victory already securing a spot in the Grand Final.
Whether it be EPL, Serie A, La Liga or the Champions League, discuss all things football in here.
You wont hear much from me EPL wise. I am a huge Liverpool fan and this year has been very disappointing.
Another sport I find hard to really understand, but I have become more interested in it since AUS started making the world cup again, and actually winning games. So many tactics involved, it is like a game of chess sometimes trying to weave a path to goals through the defence. It can become boring at times, but so can cricket I guess.
The final of the Champions League has been decided earlier this morning. Holding a 3-1 advantage Inter Milan held off Barcelona to advance and meet Bayern Munich in the final.
All expectations were for Barca to advance and claim another European title, however the Italian giant did the job and will be hard to beat.
It is also the pointy end of the EPL season, with Chelsea and Manchester United battling to win the league title. Chelsea hold a 4 point lead but face Liverpool this weekend.
Liverpool' year of woe continued this morning, being knocked out of the Europa league by Athletico Madrid on away goals. Some big decisions have to be made at Anfield, starting from the top. Heavily in debt, a manager out of form and a squad with not much depth. The rise of Manchester City, Aston Villa and Tottenham have put the acid on Liverpool this year, and they have not met the challenge.
If Australia dishes up what they served last night, they may as well bypass the World Cup and play with the Lions @ Kruger National Park.
A 2-1 win against New Zealand was not a good send off. Speaking of send-offs, messers Cahill & Grella can count themselver very, very lucky for not receiving straight red cards. Grella' 2 footed tackle was unsavory at best, and has broken legs in the past.
The Socceroos now fly to Sth Africa where they prepare with 2 friendlies, against Denmark & USA.
Things getting tight at the top of the English Premier League table.
Chelsea lost again, this time 1-0 @ Birmingham. Arsenal failed to capitalise, when they lost to Tottenham 3-2 @ The Emirates. this was after they led 2-0 at half time!
Man Utd and Liverpool both posted impressive wins, whilst Man City jumped to 4th with a 4-1 victory.
