Yep as I said earlier, knew there would be further development. Conditions were just right for new showers and storms to fire ahead of the colder air, didn't really matter that the trough was east of us this morning. Had a heavy downpour here in Brighton 10 mins ago as well. Have also seen a number of fire trucks go by which I'm thinking is power lines playing up again with the rainfall.
More showers and thunderstorms developing this afternoon ahead of this colder air then more traditional cold type showers/storms overnight.

Geoff - Definitely a cool change marching up bayside where these cells are exploding, Geelong is down 8c in the last 45 minutes! Expect huge development around the Metro area now.
Just as I'm setting off to drive into the Docklands lol

Lol Johnno! You're still better at this game than most of the rest of us put together! You look to be in for a good soaking yourself!
I'll wait until this time tomorrow to see if we get our fair share here.
Okay here we go guys. Glad to be proven wrong again. Radar starting to light up like a xmas tree out west. Maybe, just maybe my decision not to ride has paid off.
Caroline Springs, Melbourne's meteorological boredom zone.
Crack of lightning and massive thunder bolt in CBD just now. Rolled for about 6 or 7 seconds. Heard it from inside the office so must've been a beauty from outside!
We got some brief small hail here before in a shower, surprised me, but with these cold uppers no wonder. Looks like heaps more action coming across from the west.
Look at that radar now! Thunder getting closer here now, and rain getting heavier. All this is a bonus for us, as our rain almost always arrives with the colder air.
AUSTRALIAN WEATHER FORUM
SEVERE THUNDERSTORM ADVICE Please use official warnings from the Bureau of Meteorology for professional services.
Thunderstorm activity continues to occur across Victoria. Whilst no individual thunderstorm cell has been currently identified as severe, there has been several reports of heavy rainfall that has caused local flash flooding across suburban Melbourne, therefore we are issuing an advice for the potential of further flash flooding and also damaging winds. No large hail is expected, but smaller sized hail is likely, especially later today.
