What's all the fuss? Clear sunny skies, light breeze and 6 degC here.
Friday looks more interesting here. We might actually get a little bit of rain then.
And later next week looks intriguing. Could be a drought breaker...

Now that's the stuff that tops up water tanks.

Incoming by the looks of the radar - hope it holds together, still 1.7C at Ferny Creek.

Just 1.0C here ATM which is our max for today. The AWS is prone to jump with a bit of sun on a north facing slope. Definitely cold enough for snow. The showers a bringing down notably cold air with the temperature just 2.8C on the coast near Geelong ATM. We've still got snow lying in the garden.
BTW got lots more photos. Will put them up when I get the chance. Expecting lots of snow shots through the day

Hi Shell,
I heard rain, sleet and maybe a bit of snow falling but when I looked out the window at first light saw nothing. Hillybilly is only 60m above us but always manages to get some snow. Lucky duck

2.2c at Laverton! That's incredible for sea level. Had a burst of hail with the arrival of the shower and now very cold.

Pretty sure I've had a bit of graupel! Soft splattering hail. Not used to it though so cannot confirm.

I would say coldest air hasn't reached you yet.
I'm more annoyed that it
IS 2 degrees, yet no snow. I understand the dynamics behind it, but c'mon... unfair. Very rare to get these conditions.
5.5 degrees here at the moment.

You'll find the temperature will drop a tonne under a shower. Colder air from aloft will be entrained in the precip, also the air will cool as drops evaporate in an unsaturated environment where you are.

Dropped from 8 degrees to 4 degrees here in the past hour. It looked like it was trying to hail, but not quite, abut 10 mins ago.
Wind was picking up a bit too. Contrast from this morning with calm and sun and just a touch of rain overnight.
Great to see it finally snow up in the hills after a very lean and ho-hum winter so far.

Just had a mix of hail & rain here. Must of been right on the edge of receiving the impossible.

Round 2 - a bit warmer at 1 C but absolutely dumped: I love the look of snow on tree ferns.

My brother is in Noojee and they’ve had some light sticking snowfalls there this morning
. It’s fairly unusual in winter as they’re only @ around 270asl!
About 40 mins ago here (Croydon) we had some graupel mixed with the odd floaty snowflake! It only lasted about 20 seconds. Temp dropped to 4 degrees under it though, before sun came back out shining brightly. I love these Melbourne “coldy” days!
