Blustery shower here in Walkerville with about 0.2mm of rain. Felt briefly cooler, but now hot again.

Stinker again today, particularly northern areas. Showers and patchy rain for the weekend, which could be locally moderate to heavy.

Heat returns next week. Hopefully the current EC doesn't hold as it has 48C+ for Mildura Sunday week

This Tassie boy is driving from Melbourne to Horsham today - I'll keep an eye on the car thermometer as it steadily rises! By the way Launceston is forecast 30 today - if it gets there it will be the 9th 30 degree day this year. The average is 5.

It has strong NWly winds associated with it too which may indicate a lot of the inland heat is about to be blown out to sea... Could be a rough day or two.

32.2C here alrdy for a forecast top of 36C. I reckon 38.5 (like yesterday) is more on the cards.

The wind change is just filtering through here now, ever so slowly. It got to 36.7c earlier this afternoon. Currently 31.3c, with a slight wind coming in from the ESE. Horrible couple of days, which have made it really difficult to get out into the garden - would love a proper cool change with rain!

Cool change is really struggling here. The wind has swung back around to the WNW, and temperature has started climbing again. Now 32.8c.

In Seymour for work today and it hit 40 degrees here. I was out in it twice for a while today and must say it didn't seem that hot at all with the extra cloud cover.

31C in FC, so about 36Cat sea level. We had. Brief shower this arvo, but didn’t register. Now mid twenty with a dewpoint in the mid teens. Was down at Walkerville til about 3pm when it started to cool off. Car showed a temperature of 36C at one stage, so a stinker for down there. In land looks like Walpeup take the high today with 44.2C, and Tarcoola with 48.1C the national top score

Progs look ok for rain Saturday and Sunday with the surface trough stalling and a slight upper trough amplifying. Should see locally 10-20mm, but models won’t agree on where it peaks. Thinking we should see 5-15mm through most southern areas. North will dry out as you head towards the river, and baking temperatures will continue for the far north.

Probably should extend the thread as this heat rolls on til next weekend. Friday looks like being the hottest day since Black Saturday for Vic. Winds not nearly as strong, but temperatures are appalling. GFS and EC both showing mid to high 40s in the Malllee and EC has even touched 50C in NSW on some runs

Not sure where you're seeing this to be honest. I'm seeing low-40s at most for Northern Vic mid-30s at most for Southern Vic for late next week.
