Just passed 30mm in the city, and generally in the Melbourne area.

Don't like saying it, but told y'all earlier to not trust the models on this 😃😃😃. Too good of a setup for it to 'not' rain.

Models had heaps on the runs I was following. Gfs at 0Z had 25-50mm across all of central and over 50mm for much of Melbourne’s east. I thought the Models did really well on this one. Wiggled, but that’s expected because we all look at the deterministic model runs, rather than the ensemble which smooths out the wiggles.

Awesome event for much of vic. Best rain for the year :D

Mixed bag for Tasmania. Eastern quarter did well, but miss for west. Hobart stuck in between. 12mm here, which was lower than expected, though does top up the tanks and water the garden so still useful.

An even 30mm here for the dates, with a bit more to come. Good result.

Very widespread too, so will really get streams flowing into storages, which can be hard to do in western Vic after a dry summer. The high water table reserves from 2022 no doubt playing a role.

A very welcome 52mm here. Looking at the radar, there’s heaps of rain pushing up through east and south east Melb. We probably won’t get a whole lot more here, although we’ve had plenty anyway!

No Fizzer here in the end but not as much as most of Melbourne had.
21.6mm's up to 9am this morning, none since - MTD is now 68.4mm's
Ballarat Airport had 21.4mm's - MTD is 76mm's - Long term average is 51mm's .
First month above average since November last year. :D

Steady rain all night here to give us 26.5mm. Another great top up.

Had been in a dry lull between bands for an hour or two this morning, but rain has since returned and is now coming in thick from our favoured south west. Too wet to do anything today, so hoping to see the rain totals rack up further.

Drizzly periods arrived here mid yest arvo, persisted on and off under a light NE'ly till later at night, then rained steadily through to 1030 am before a brief pause. Expecting an inch or more in the gauge when I empty it this evening. Thankyou TC Ilsa.

Agree Twister, this always looked the goods even looking at the static yesterday told that story. Don't get the constant early calls of non-event before the first drops have fallen. These seem to crop up inevitably in each rain/storm event thread. :?

Good pick on this one Twister and also to HB and others!

40mm bayside and 30mm Mansfield. Brilliant!

36mm here. Good drop. Not a fan of the models. El Nino won't happen this year. If it does will be very weak.
No clear evidence that it will, apart from the point scoring media. But then again, if the media says it, it must be true

Amazing rain event for much of the state really and most welcome, was walking around city last night was just water everywere so wet.
Best state wide rain even since the big flooding rain event of mid October i recon and number metro places out east had wettest day in years

59mm :o :o here in the last 24 hours with heavy showers around lunch thats a big dump and almost a months rain in 1 day.

Many Farmers will start sowing now, gardens will go gang busters next week or 2 and will fill and flush creeks dams tanks etc.

Few images to show the great rain even it was models did well

Yep Twister, rare to get a Vic rain event that delivers for most of Vic at the April planting season.

I tipped out 28.25mm just before, takes Maffra to 36.25mm for this thread. Cold and clear skys to the West now. 52.5mm here for this month so far, farmers happy.

I wonder if a (season last-gasp) SE Aus cut off low is possible closer to the end of this month? - GFS/EC models suggest its possible.

A cold 4c this morning.

Not really much now in the forecast models for the rest of April as we sit under a high pressure ridge.
