We had more snow overnight, I can see white lawns though the pre-dawn gloom. Temp got down to zero earlier and on 0.2 now.
Nasty wind has been blasting away all night.

Re: Low and Intense Cold Front - July 23 - July 26

What cold outbreak? It's been mostly fine yesterday AND this morning, apart from an hour of crappy showers last night. By the time that precipitation makes it this way later with that warm front, the so-calles cold outbreak will be over. It gets a 1 out of 10 from me, as it doesn't get more calm th...

Re: Low and Intense Cold Front - July 23 - July 26

Snowing again now, only the lightest of covers. A real shame because it has been at or below zero since midnight.
-0.7C now.
I've had better snowfalls that have come out of no where.
* getting heavier now, maybe I complain too soon. Haha.

Re: Low and Intense Cold Front - July 23 - July 26

Yes , at first I thought my PWS waa bung but I asked my partner to check the old digital thermo and it was exactly the same.
When we get frost here, which is not that often, it can often hang around for a day or longer.

ABC weather said snow could be possible in Gisborne on Saturday!

Re: Low and Intense Cold Front - July 23 - July 26

Horrifically cold and bleak at Mt Macedon today. Started out with full frost, then cloud and wind kicked in to keep it close to freezing all day. The frost was still intact when I arrived home from work. Min was 1C max was only 2.5C. Second coldest day so far this Winter. Trentham squeaked up to 4C ...

Re: Long spell of winter westerlies: July 11-18?

No snow for me today even though it was cold enough. It is annoying to know that it is snowing again along the GDR (towns like Jindabyne, Oberon, Yetholme and Guyra) in NSW for the second time this week but we miss out in VIctoria. My max today was 4.1C but was down to 1.7C by the afternoon. 0.3C now

Re: Long spell of winter westerlies: July 11-18?

A very brief period of snow here this morning. Nothing too exciting. I thought we may have seen something better considering we are just on 870m asl. Minimum temp was 0.9C and 3.6C right now. I've just seen some pics of a very nice snow cover at Crookwell near Goulburn in NSW. Around 930m from memory.

Re: Strong front and possible cut off: July 1-5

Yes, lot's of it unfortunately. It is weird about the roadblock, for the first two weeks they didnt bother policing it but since tuesday it has been guarded 24/7. Not going to complain because it has been blissfully quiet all week. No tourists. It would have been mental here today with the snow in t...

Re: Strong front and possible cut off: July 1-5

Surely it would be snowing at Mt Macedon at the moment. There’s a heavy shower over it at the moment. Tempted to go up and have a look as I only live 15-20mins away. It's not. We had some good flurries all through the day but nothing now. The road up the mountain is still closed and there is a mann...

Re: Low Pressure: 23rd - 27th June 2021

Another 1.5mm in the gauge this morning makes 17.5mm for the dates, and 101.5mm mtd (and most likely our June total). Wonderful rain this year, steady but not flooding, and we're running nearly 100mm ahead. Streams flowing strongly and lakes rising rapidly, or full. If it wasn't for the hurricane e...
