Re: Outback Queensland Thunderstorms - Nov 30, 2010

Continued from part 1. The storm above intenified big time at one point.. the wall cloud was almost a ground scraper for about 15-20 mins before some solid outflow messed the structure up. http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs1168.snc4/151017_485387527504_261100802504_5602088_2227015_n.jpg ...

Re: Outback Queensland Thunderstorms - Nov 30, 2010

Thanks!! That would be nice! Here is Cam's writeup. Hi everyone Just thought i'd put a bit of a chase report up for Randy and I's 3 day chase adventure out to the Maranoa and Warrego district of QLD. November 30 was a day that will long be etched into my mind for a long time to come yet! The day bef...

Outback Queensland Thunderstorms - Nov 30, 2010

Hi there everyone! This season has been quite terrible for us up here in South-East Queensland which prompted Cam and myself to concentrate on the central interior (or outback) Queensland for thunderstorms due to the trough stalling out to the W. We decided a couple of days prior that we would try o...

Re: Victoria: Rain/Storm Event (Analysis) November 22-28 20

Keeping a keen eye on the developments down there over the course of the next week (nothing to watch in Queensland until the start of next week). It's shaping up for some decent stormies down there so hopefully a few of you guys can capture some great images like the last event :)

Nothing to report here at the moment only some onshore showers from the E and some isolated showers forecast for the central interior of Queensland.

Re: VIC: Rain/Showers/T'storms: 6th - 8th November.

Got this picture from a mate of mine, his parents were heading back to Melbourne and sent this to him. He didn't find out exactly were it was or what time, but apparently they were hit by huge hail, most likely dinting the car. They couldn't get out to check because it was too dangerous. http://sph...

Re: SE QLD Storms 24-28 Oct 2010

Thanks everyone! Well I love to share every stormy so you might have to start getting used to it! Would you believe I actually didn't chase today!! I got shafted by my old boss after 7 loyal years as tough times are happening for his business, so I took up a console op job doing graveyard hours. It ...

Re: SE QLD Storms 24 Oct 2010

October 25th saw residual instability sitting right along the coastal fringe of SE Queensland with the surface dew points behind the range sitting on around 11° whereas the coastal DP's were still 17°. The seabreeze would fuel todays activities with decent surface heating on the coast ahead of a sou...

Re: SE QLD Storms 24 Oct 2010

Sunday the 24th of October always looked like the day that Severe Thunderstorms would occur in our region due to the trough now sitting right over the eastern darling downs early in the morning and shifting across the coastal plain in the afternoon. GFS and Access models both supported precipitation...

Re: SE QLD Storms 24 Oct 2010

The 23rd of October was more or less a carbon copy of the day prior. Short lived isolated cells around the Southern Border Ranges of Queensland which eventually dissipated when they traveled NE towards the coast. The best part of the day was early afternoon when we chased an isolated cell just to th...

Re: SE QLD Storms 24 Oct 2010

It has certainly been an interesting few days up here in SEQ. We have had activity four days in a row stretching from October the 22nd through to the 25th. The storms that formed on the 22nd seemed to fire in instability preceding the upper trough to the west which was located around the western dar...

Re: Brisbane/QLD General Weather

Thinking of perhaps chasing tomorrow around the Warwick area or the Southern Downs. There is moderate instability from the trough approaching from the west so it might be a decent chance of a few moderate thunderstorms. Sunday and Monday are also looking the goods at the moment on both GFS and Access.

We typically use GFS and Access models to predict thunderstorm occurrence locations.

Re: VIC: Rain/showers & thunderstorms - October 12th- 14th

Doppler wind signatures are showing signs of quite strong inflow! Should be an interesting afternoon down there I must say!! I hope to jump on a few webcams and have a look as it nears the CBD later on this afternoon.

I wish I could just fly down for the day to chase with the Victorians!! :)
