Surprised about Ballarat. I guess the rain bands for this system have not been especially mobile, with rain streaming over the same areas for hours. The heavy rain has stopped here. It's just drizzle and thick fog now, which I expect will hang around for much of the afternoon. We're on a massive 111...

Another 45mm here overnight and this morning. Could hear lots of thunder in the early hours, although it was mostly distant. That takes it to 88mm for the event. Frogs are chirping away, obviously loving our new wetlands. It's still raining currently, although mostly light to moderate. Heavier rain ...

43mm here. We were lucky to be on the right side of the rain band. It just poured down all day but eased off late this afternoon to light showers this evening. No thunder, just humid tropical-like rain. I don't think it could be any more saturated here now. An amazing summer so far. Would be great i...

Yes, progs are sticking fairly well now for Vic but somewhat jumpier for Tas, except maybe the far northeast. Perhaps a couple more runs will clear the picture as the movement of the low becomes more predictable. At this stage, it looks like all of Vic will see rain. We'll have a northerly kicking i...

Power is back on. It’s still raining and thundering here. That’s about 3 hours now. The lightning has been very close at times, with big overhead bangs. Just had another one shake the windows a few moments ago. Looks like it will clear from here soon. A lot more rain than I had expected - now 52mm. ...

Rain has eased off now but should continue for maybe an hour or so. Still some big booms. This has been a very active storm.
31mm so far. Not quite as intense as the boxing day storm we had here, but still pretty fierce. Power is still off unfortunately.

Absolutely bucketing down here. 23mm so far.
Wild storm. Big wind gusts. Lots of lightning and huge, house-shaking booms. Power came on and off a few times, and now it’s completely off. Definitely fits the severe storm definition.

Plenty of rumbling at the moment here with a storm coming in. It’s incredibly dark, almost like the sun has set and it’s dusk. Wind has really picked up too.
Looking at the radar, rain should be in Melbourne in the next hour or so.

Still looking like a couple of wet days coming up, starting with tomorrow. There has been a bit of a downgrade in the models on rainfall totals and there’s still a lot of inconsistency between them, despite being less than 24 hours away. For example, UKMO concentrates the largest falls tomorrow thro...

Another huge, severe storm again today. Big booms, lots of lightning, and intense rainfall, probably the heaviest I have seen in many years, dropping around 50mm in about half an hour and more flash flooding. And then another 10mm in follow up rain… We’re now on a massive 200mm or thereabouts for th...

(Snowfall, you must be looking at a pretty impressive total for 2023? We're doing well, but I think you've beaten us every major rain event.) I don’t know, I reckon you’ve had some bigger events at times. 2023 was looking fairly ordinary here until the past 3 months. Oct, Nov and Dec have all been ...

Incredible amount of rain in these parts. We’ve added a further 64mm today, totalling 143mm since yesterday. The rain has only just stopped now and there’s even some blue sky to my north. Otherwise it has been raining non-stop since early this morning. We even had a big storm around late morning wit...

Huge downpour here, with 74mm yesterday evening. Just relentless very heavy rain for around 6 hours and plenty of embedded thunder and lightning too. We’ve since added another 5mm overnight. The low is currently sitting around northwest Vic with some hefty rain bands on the radar. Will be a wet morn...

Looks like most of Vic will see rain/storms over the Christmas long weekend, mainly starting later in the day on Sunday, with falls occurring through to boxing day. At this stage, the biggest totals look likely in northern Vic and maybe west central, but there is still a bit of inconsistency across ...

A fair few storms about here, especially around the middle of the day, but they were all fast moving. We also scraped most of them and the couple that hit directly were over in minutes. So only managed 1mm. Some great big booms and plenty of flashes though, so still a lot of storm activity. Now it’s...

6mm today. 89mm MTD. Just scraped a storm early this evening. Not much rain, as we were a few kms too far east. But we had what I reckon was the loudest thunder clap I have ever heard. It shook the house like an earthquake and caused a power surge. We’ve also been in fog almost constantly since satu...
