Re: Inland Trough & Tropical Infeed - 17th - 21st Sept

Picked up a trace yesterday so dragged us up to 1.trace mm :D Warm weekend here and not much in the way of weather. Seems Melbourne is destined to have a cr*ppy cr*ppy spring :( we should see a bit of action on Monday. Much better as you go north and west. Btw some remarkable falls clocking up in ou...

Re: Inland Trough & Tropical Infeed - 17th - 21st Sept

Progs been backing off and are really messy. Not convinced for southern Vic now. Looks like we might score 10-20mm if lucky.

Better in the north but patchy. Big storms on Saturday further north, but tending to fade as they drift south.

Lots of days with showers and the odd storm so might get lucky.

Re: Inland Trough & Tropical Infeed - 17th - 21st Sept

Foggy and spitty morning up here in the Nongs. 0.8mm in the gauge. Looks like being a messy day of weather with light rain spreading east.

Warm Friday and Saturday with showers and storms later, particularly in the north.

Re: Inland Trough & Tropical Infeed - 17th - 21st Sept

Nice day ahead. All changes tomorrow, with rain, showers and storms. Currently looks like the focus will be north of the divide.

Re: Inland Trough & Tropical Infeed - 17th - 21st Sept

Progs still looking good. Couple of nice sunny ones then days of showers and later storms. EC and most models have good falls by the end of the event. Going to be a nice warm weekend. EC showing a max of around 26-28C in the metro area so a spike to 30C is not out of the question. Sunday, Monday, Tu...

Re: Inland Trough & Tropical Infeed - 17th - 21st Sept

Thanks for starting Gordon. Messy but hopeful. Thursday is interesting as a starter. Tropical moisture will surge south ahead of a front that sneaks through. Could be a surprise opener, with some models (GFS, CMC, ICON and French) going for local heavy falls. Weekend could get quite toastie and stor...

Re: Warm with a rainband: Sept 12-13

Bit of drizzle and fog this morning, dragging us to about 22mm for the event. Few nice days ahead then a big cutoff low that throws a series of troughs over us. The system looks like being a big rain producer for inland parts, perhaps our first big La Niña system :D Vic is complicated with a series ...

Re: Warm with a rainband: Sept 12-13

17mm in the gauge, and 20mm for the event. Not bad, but not great. Was expecting at least 30mm.

Fantastic falls through the west, but fizzed out east. Was always going to produce strong gradients and in the end it sat about 50km south of what I expected.

Re: Warm with a rainband: Sept 12-13

Still nothing. Looking at the satpic we might end up with 0 this weekend. You will get it early tomorrow. The upper trough is still still west of Mt Gambier. Not big falls, but perhaps north of 10mm with a bit of luck. Had just shy of 6mm here today. Expecting a wet night with at least another 25mm...

Re: Warm with a rainband: Sept 12-13

I was expecting to see wet ground, only a few spots so far, That big colourful blob has missed us slipping to the south.. ready for it now, garden is going to love 20mm Never gonna start proper to mid morning. Going exactly as planned. Should seem 25-50mm out our way :D EDIT> Rain moving in nicely ...

Re: Warm with a rainband: Sept 12-13

Progs looking good. Mallee and east Gippsland look like struggling but elsewhere ok falls becoming heavy in the Southwest into Central and the Northeast. EC has about 40mm for us in FC. Hoping that comes off with our MTD running about 50mm below where we should be for mid month. Few thundery showers...

Re: Warm with a rainband: Sept 12-13

Last warm one for a while today, but a bit of wind making it less than idea. Nice rainy Saturday into Sunday. Progs have stuck pretty well. Thinking 20-50mm here. We really do need it as September’s total is looking very sad atm. Another big system for next week. Finally feels like the La Niña is cr...

Re: Warm with a rainband: Sept 12-13

Models coming into bit better agreement. Band looks like focussing from about the Wimmera to Gippsland. Most spot do pretty well, though a tweak north or south could see totals fall away. Expecting about 30mm here. We do need to jump start September which is looking pretty ordinary.

Warm with a rainband: Sept 12-13

Thread for this coming weekend which might give us our first proper rain event in a while. Warming up as the week goes on, with a trough approaching on Saturday. Looks like a decent tropical connection with rain widespread. The system will tend to slide southeast so heaviest falls will align northwe...

3.8mm from that band. A front worthy of the second week of February

Weekend is looking half decent :D

Re: Windy with a late change: September 2-7

No shortage of wind this morning. Oh well, will yield a few weeks of fire wood :o

No real let up to mid arvo, when the change pushes through with lots of virga and perhaps a bit of rain. Turning in to a pretty crappy spring in Vic atm :(

Re: Windy with a late change: September 2-7

Almost warm and now really windy up here. Drying out fast which is odd given the climate drivers. Should get a couple of showers tomorrow.

Next weekend looks hopeful, but Progs a bit jumpy.

Re: Windy with a late change: September 2-7

Nice day yesterday, and starting to feel warm in the sun. Our pool roof top thermometer hit 47C and starting to get the pool warmer than it’s mid winter trough. Be only two weeks before it is swimmable if I can get rid of the green :D Another really warm one today. Could get close to early season re...

Re: Windy with a late change: September 2-7

2.6mm is the gauge this morning. Nice arvo, and looks very mild next few days now. Not seeing anything until this time next week which could well be thundery. Too far out to get excited about it yet.

Might sneak a shower Tuesday morning.

Re: Windy with a late change: September 2-3

Mild windy one today. Showers early tomorrow. This cycle keeps repeating. Monday looks really warm. Melbourne low to mid 20s, and Mallee likely to see 30s. Don’t think we will get records, but could get quite closer to early season ones. I’ve added dates to the thread as we are in the repeating cycl...
