Re: Warm, very windy then rain. Sept 30 to Oct 3

That squall line is moving far quicker than I thought, and it has exploded in intensity!! 10-20 minutes left (30 minutes max) before it reaches the Dandenongs! :)

Re: Warm, very windy then rain. Sept 30 to Oct 3

Some of those cells entering Port Phillip look very deep red, and they seem to be making a bee-line straight at me, could get very nasty in about an hour!! Looking forward to it (just hoping there's no more damage in my area as it comes through) :D

Re: Warm, very windy then rain. Sept 30 to Oct 3

The frontal band certainly looked like it was getting torn to pieces as it was crossing the Bay, but it reached us here in the Dandenongs around 30 minutes ago and it looks like it's got going again on radar - we're missing the worst of it though but the wind and rain were wild enough over the last ...

Re: Warm, very windy then rain. Sept 30 to Oct 3

That was probably one of the wildest and most dangerous windstorms I've ever experienced, the whole night it was just a ferocious northerly gale; although the strongest gust I measured was 42.8km/h at about 9:30pm I estimate that the worst gusts were lashing through the gum trees at closer to 100km/...

Re: Warm, very windy then rain. Sept 30 to Oct 3

Some of you wind nutters need to move out here to the open flat plains of the outer western suburbs. There's plenty of wind out here for you to enjoy, and on a daily basis too. ;) Haha yes maybe I should Skywalker, except I'd miss the advantage of having the 'bay-effect' from Port Phillip to the so...

Re: Warm, very windy then rain. Sept 30 to Oct 3

You must be one of the few that does, I can't stand it. :x Haha yep I'm one of those few, part of my crazy obsession with stormy weather, better than depressingly calm, settled weather (especially in the autumn) :D I just hope the power doesn't go out and the trains don't get disrupted as I have to...

Re: Warm, very windy then rain. Sept 30 to Oct 3

I love windy weather! Even though it upsets my sinus trouble at this time of year and there's always the risk of property damage and blackouts I'll take it (and other forms of stormy weather) over prolonged calm spells :) Severe Weather Warning for damaging winds for people in the North East, South ...

4.2mm at 9am this morning, 3.2mm of which fell from the band of showers/thunderstorms late in the evening, currently sitting around 15-16C with gusty winds and plenty of showers racing through the Melbourne area, great day for being indoors to watch the Grand Final :)

Re: Vic: Cold fronts, Gales, AFL Grand Final Sept 24-30

Yes Jake, it's truly glorious spring weather across Melbourne today, minus the wind chill which makes the air feel a bit too cool for me (shouldn't be a problem if I go for a walk but not quite what I'd want if I were to sit outside on a day like this), currently about 21C at my end :) The cold fron...

Re: Vic: Cold fronts, Gales, AFL Grand Final Sept 24-30

1.1mm from today's shower and thunderstorm activity, bringing the event total to 25.3mm :) Plenty of wind-related damage (mostly broken tree branches) scattered around the Dandenong Ranges, but none in my immediate area; I saw quite a bit around Belgrave, Selby and Monbulk this afternoon. Not surpri...

Re: Vic: Cold fronts, Gales, AFL Grand Final Sept 24-30

Had a 30-second burst of small hail here about half-an-hour ago, otherwise it's been pretty much cloudy early this morning but mostly sunny now in between showers and thunderstorms (very fast-moving, but most of which seem to be easing on the radar atm), and the whole time it's very windy! It's bare...

Re: Vic: Cold fronts, Gales, AFL Grand Final Sept 24-30

24.2mm of rain overnight, had two rounds of thunder and lightning (one at about 1:00am and the other at around 4:30am), very windy outside and more showers and thunderstorms coming in from the southwest, should be an active day weatherwise! :D

Re: Vic - Rain, Cut-off Lows: Sept 13-19

I happened to see lightning today, yes I can confirm that I saw one or two flashes at around 5:30pm over Docklands and the Melbourne City skyline while at the Royal Melbourne Show this afternoon/evening, the sky to the south/southeast sure was dark at the time, and I believe that they were intraclou...

Re: Vic - Rain, Cut-off Lows: Sept 13-19

That makes three of us, I didn't hear any thunder during the night, and yes it did rain but not enough to register on my weather station (1mm is the minimum threshold) :(

At least it's going to be a nice sunny day! :)

Re: Vic - Rain, Cut-off Lows: Sept 13-19

I initially thought it was "all over red rover" but I guess it could be "game-on" instead; over the past couple hours things have developed over Western and Central parts of Victoria with showers and thunderstorms now developing and increasing on the radar, including some activit...

Re: Vic - Rain, Cut-off Lows: Sept 13-19

1mm from yesterday's showers, so that brings my event total to 51.5mm :)

Would be really good if the incoming trough can use this warmth to spark off some decent showers and thunderstorms over Western Victoria and send them into the Melbourne area later this afternoon and/or tonight! :)

Re: Vic - Rain, Cut-off Lows: Sept 13-19

32.6mm in the past 24 hours at my end, brings my event total to 50.5mm, and hope there's more rain to come! :) Crazy weather over the past few days! On Tuesday I was down in Berwick and got caught out in that band of heavy afternoon showers, I was feeling pretty cold and soaked afterwards as I had n...

1.1mm at 9am this morning. Sky looks very convective and unstable outside right now, so hopefully we WILL get some action this afternoon! :)
