Brilliant reading everyone's totals. Finished with 55mm for the thread and close to 100mm for the MTD! Not a bad January at all.
Interesting to watch lovely pulse storms last hour between Benalla and Whitfield. Stunning clear air viewing from here to our NE with crawlers and plenty of cg's on offer.
Interesting afternoon coming up. As well as decent totals showing up on some of the models, an hour ago, BOM tweeted a 'Severe Thunderstorms possible' chart covering much of Victoria. Over the last two afternoons, I've watched showers and thunderstorms form up nearby, though we've completely missed...
Beautiful shots Peng and Didj! Inner Melb missed this one largely seems. Looked like those nocturnal storms may deliver rain but not to be. Light show over the bay was pretty spectacular for awhile looking north and south with a few stunning crawlers observed. Looking positive for yet another period...
Direct hit, black core which evolved into back building red for 30 minutes. 41mm rain in 30 minutes, everything is flooded, large intermittent hail huge flangs. Went for a walk and Monbulk creek is flooded, amazing to see :D Very nice entertainment! Big totals. Glad for you to have it, keeps my hil...
A few spots here in Ringwood - is that it? Everything so dry - one of the driest summers I can remember so far. We've had 28mm since the 16th of November. It’s not over yet for Melbourne. The trough is still sitting a few hundred kilometres to Melbourne’s west. As long as the trough is west of us, ...
Models diverge on chance of storms late tonight - for Melbourne a few show some instability creeping in, others show marginal or none. Most agree with two apparent peaks in instability tomorrow though - one in the morning and the other in the afternoon/evening. BOM forecast tends to indicate they d...
Yeah it's going to be a heat shock for many after this cool spring and start to summer. La Nīna, where have you gone? Melbourne is really drying out on the surface. Northern tropics looking wet now so hopefully some of that moisture makes it way south in the coming weeks. The 2011 event really rampe...
Just very high-based cells with rain if you happen to be right under a very small downdraft. Very 'meh'. A few active cells in the clear air out West, but even they're looking rather mediocre. Geez, you're hard to please! Best storm day of the Spring for much of Vic I'd say. Particularly central/no...
