Re: QLD - Tropical Cyclone Oswald - 21st Jan to ??? Jan 2013

Coolangatta records 118mm to 6am with gusts in the 70 odd km/hr range - feels much stronger! We've been battered all night. The beach which is normally a long expanse of sand is all but gone, huge muddy looking waves thrashing the shore relentlessly. 6m waves were recorded at Surfers yesterday. A fe...

Re: QLD - Tropical Cyclone Oswald - 21st Jan to ??? Jan 2013

Re: QLD - Tropical Cyclone Oswald - 21st Jan to ??? Jan 2013

Thanks Robyn <3. Meso much the same here, it's muggy, rainy and the shops are crazy because the tourists are bored! Woken this morning to stronger gusts, continuing steady moderate rain. Seas are wild though, I estimate about 3-4 meters? High tide currently and can see why there's warnings for beach...

Re: QLD - Tropical Cyclone Oswald - 21st Jan to ??? Jan 2013

Well, we're here on holidays on the Gold Coast, proving to be "interesting" with ex TC' heading our way looking to unload his burden and possibly throw in a tornado for good measure! Here's part of the SWW issued for our location: These conditions are expected to contract southwards into t...

Re: Christmas Week Weather

Yep, just noticed that too Geoff, it's trying to tell us there's a line of... something coming in from the NE moving SW? Odd. Just been out with the kiddies looking at Christmas lights, still pretty warm out this way. Jake, hope you're ok :) If I don't get on here in the next day or so, Merry Christ...

Ah, glad someone's mentioned the cricket, we're spewing here! My son's best chance to have a good shot is this Saturday morning, he's been looking forward to playing this team, it's always a good match against them. Didn't get to have a hit last weekend, they were saving him for the middle order so ...

LOL @ crunchy, it sure is. Wind is picking up more here, gusting a bit stronger. Took icy poles down to the boys playing cricket, they were melting before you could unwrap them :sun: There does appear to be a little something popping up near Avoca now 8-) Edit: Fire in Heathcote, this wind change wi...

Re: Strong quake just happened in Japan

Sounds like all is reasonably well at the moment, Fukushima plant is ok, workers have evacuated to a stronghold within the plant. 1 metre waves felt in Myagi prefecture, less than that in other areas, but these are the initial waves, some larger ones may be on their way. This from my brother heading...
