This is a grab from some of my video - a 5m beast at Pt Lonsdale yesterday

Today I am planning a Coldie and large surf chase to Pt Lonsdale. Should get some awesome pics and vid of the 2-3m forecast surf breaking against the outgoing tide from the bay. Maybe a waterspout too? No coldies or waterspouts at Pt Lonsdale, but some massive 3-5m surf! 12mm for the event at home.

I noticed on Melb soundings the air was quite dry above 10 - 15 thousand feet. I agree - we need a good warm tropical infeed with a strong front behind for forcing.

Out of interest, does anyone know what happened to the Thunderstorm Forecast maps Vic BOM used to publish on their Twitter page? Haven't seen one for ages. (Not to be confused with their STWs.)

Looks like things are firing in a line from Ballarat to north of Stawell. The Clunes cell looks impressive on the Maryborough airport webcam:

To be honest, I am disappointed so far also. But looking at it logically, there is heat / moisture / instability yes? This mornings sounding showed we had all those in spades. What is missing?? Has to be lack of forcing. IE: the trough is weaker than first forecast / has weakened. How do you forecas...
