Had 31mm's up to 9am. Wasn't expecting that. what a great system.
Still raining now, over 70mm's MTD (ave 55mm's)
Melbourne water Cranbourne sth had 32mm's.
56mm in FC now. Not far off our monthly average in 24 hours (our monthly average is about 70mm). I suspect this is the best we've had from a cold outbreak in 10+ years now. Certainly we've had bigger events but they involve multiple fronts of lows.
Looks to be starting to clear now. Might sneak up to 60mm.
It's certainly very localised. I left home in pouring rain and fog, down off the hill in Kilsyth/Bayswater it was warm sunshine, then back up the hill into heavy rain and small hail. Last of the big showers about to clear here now, I wonder what a bit of warm sun might produce?
Was quite an exciting day yesterday. My rain gauge doesn't quite reflect that as the showers were fast moving, collected only 2.3mm here in Tarneit. Amazing clouds, Thunder, Rain & Hail!
I snapped this shot of some cool cloud formations from my yard last night, sorry about the size.
Nice photo WeatherViewer! Mammatocumulus on the decaying back end of a cumulonimbus cell, classic!
Sunshine here now and temp up to 13C.
(Edit, there's a tiny little speck on the radar which is giving us a complete cloudburst, absolutely torrential)!
It's going to be fascinating on how the authorities will classify Wednesday for the fire danger rating on the central district. Clearly, some southern areas are totally saturated but some north western areas are now bone dry.
Looks to be all done. Event total of 57mm for us. Coldest Feb day in 21 years, and best summer cold outbreak since 2006. MTD is about 130mm so a good Feb - think that is our best since Feb 2011 (we got 200mm in a night then so not much chance of topping it ).
Now I fear we will pay for the excitment with a long period of late summer boredom
Really cold here this morning. Not far off from being a frost in the gully we live in. Had to put the split cycle on heat briefly this morning. I can't ever remember having to do that.

Coldest Feb minimum on record for Canberra at 2.8C.
Besides Mangalore, any other Feb minimum records broken in Victoria?
Strathbogie broke their old record by 0.8 on Sunday morning, 1.2, the old record was 2.0 in 1980.
Swan Hill, Longerenong, Tatura and Mount Moornapa equalled or broke their records on Monday morning, but none of those stations are over 50 years old. It was damn cold nonetheless
7C here this morning which is chilly for us. Cleared to a warm sunny day.
Btw that Canberra ob is partly a result of a site move. The new spot is in a bit of a frost hollow. Overall looks to me like this is about the most notable February cold outbreak in about thirty years (give or take). Hope we get a repeat come July
Hot tomorrow. Bit of a worry with the high winds and low humidity for spots which have missed recent rain
