For me it's driving to and from the station in the light. Is almost happening now :D Cold never worried me - and FC can be cold any day of the year - but the dark is what really makes for winter IMHO.

Yes it must be close to spring the wattle is out around here,
and I have seen a couple of trees with blossom.

The 64 dollar question at the moment is what weather will it bring.
I am not entirely convinced that LaNina is going to come roaring in.
I hope that statement is totally wrong.

Slip of the tongue there I think Hawker, you mean La Nina I believe?
Yes it's borderline atm, but showing signs of weakish La Nina developing through spring.
Nevertheless, the very strong -IOD should keep the rain falling for us for some time to come.

Wattle tree's are also in full bloom this side of Melbourne also, lot's of yellow wild flowers all over the place.
Canola fields in Avalon are in the full bloom to, Spring is definitely in the air!

Im always perplexed by people calling spring when they see the winter flowering plants coming on.
I mean i sort of understand it but it is a funny thing to say.
A bit like seeing a Hydrangea flowering in mid january and saying ohhh autumn is here!

Hi Mountain Man
When the wattle comes out here, it means spring is not far off.
ie, we are well on the way through winter and close to spring.
Cheers us up a bit.

Not while these BDHs block the lows and fronts that will tap the moist air :(

I know it's spring because the trees are budding! Some of them anyway.

Probably not the best timing for this comment with tonights weather. But you know it's Spring when August isn't living up to it's cold expectations and have already started to eat ice creams.

When I have to cut the lawn every week. In normal times out lawn doesn't need cutting from start of May to sometime in September.
