Just crunched the numbers for July in Ferny Creek

At top of Dunns Hill (560m) - where I live.
Average day time temperture 7.8C (about 1C below average)
Average night time temperature 6.0C (about average)
Rainfall 130.0mm (about 20mm above average).
Coldest day was July 14 when it got to just 3.6C.
12 days with fog
1 thunderstorm
2 days with snow (brief)
3 days with sleet or graupel

First week of August will also be cold and showery, with a chance for snow on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday (but could well just be sleet and rain).

Sadly, this doesn't mean the next ice age is coming :P

33 here, I expect a wind change across the bay pretty soon. I was thinking 9pm, now looks like 7pm....ish.

Edit, I mean 8 pm on the dot.

PS, I am availble as a Storm Shield for Engagements, Weddings and Parties.

Guiranteed no rain, money back if not happy.

PM for rates.

Okay, I know many of us aren't exactly disciples of BOM's 3 month outlooks but I'm even more baffled than usual by the latest rainfall outlook for Vic (and the temperature outlook, but that's a subject for another time). Have a look at this map for January: http://www.bom.gov.au/climate/outlooks/ ... /monthly/0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It's so wrong compared to what's been actually happening these last few weeks, it's uncanny - this map basically says dry in the east and wet in the west, yet every system to date does the opposite. Is there a fatal flaw in the medium term modelling for Victoria, or has something fundamentally changed since this forecast was issued?

(Or, a third possibility, is the big wet going to hit western Victoria in the next fortnight? :? )

NCEP seem to think so Gordon......

(To be taken with the same big pinch of salt as the BOM 3 month outlook) ;)

A very confused outlook for later in the week/Easter. EC, GFS & ACCESS all jumping around like I haven't seen for ages. Good rain Thursday-ish and/or Monday-ish one moment, gone the next?

I'd start a thread, but I wouldn't know what to call it :?

Drove up to Alexandra today from Olinda. Was clear and sunny when we left here at 9.30am and 7c. Fine all the way until the Black Spur where we hit dense fog and temp of only 4c. The fog persisted all the way up the other side until Alexandra where it started clearing. Then clear skies all afternoon up there though still very cool, about 11c max. Usual bumper to bumper crawl back through Healesville to Lilydale, and quite windy when we got back home, which is odd with a ridge of high pressure sitting right over us.
