40.9 equals Melbourne's hottest November day?
Hottest on record in a Stevenson Screen. The "old" record was from a Glaisher thermometer stand which had an open bottom and typically read a bit hotter on the sunny days (and cooler on clear nights). Unfortunately the old Melbourne station moved multiple times, and started before the establishment of BoM so has some early data which doesn't match current practices.
34.0C for us in FC, then a spectacular storm with 3mm in seconds and the temperature now down to 13C with thick fog. If I woke up now, I'd be thinking another gloomy day in the Nong (the give away of course is the garden looks like a hurricane has gone through
).
Hope we don't get another day like today in a hurry. Just awful awful day.
BTW the point value FFDI values for today are just eye watering. Values widely popping over 100. When you think 100 used to be the top of the scale, the frequency that we go over that nowadays is a problem
So so lucky we had all the gloomy damp weather earlier in the month.
