Great photos flyfisher!

28mm here; locally quite a few places around 35-40mm so a good event, if not as spectacular as further north and east.

I ended up with 50.5mm
138mm. Was thinking somewhere in the 30 to 120mm range at the start of the event with about 70mm most likely, so did really well in the end. Our monthly total is 208mm, so a big turn around from the horrible September and October totals. Our YTD is about 900mm, which is pretty poor for here for 11 months, but December last year gave us just shy of 300mm so for the running 12 months we are on about 1200mm which is about 150mm below the long term average (before 1997) so not too bad. Has been a weird couple of years with most months below average, but a couple of really big events “saving” things.

Went for a bush walk today and for the first time this year the forests are properly wet. Streams were flowing quite well, and there was seeps in the usual damp spots. I’d expect this will keep us green now to the first or second week of January. A big fall around Christmas would be ideal for the horses, garden and fire season :D

Just a shame mid week isn’t going to deliver the quick follow up now

Scored another totally unexpected 6.5mm overnight, so 34.5mm total. Only 100-odd short of HB :). (Compensates a bit for the fading system Tuesday/ Wednesday.)

Nothing here overnight. Just clear skies. Lovely day today.

Spare a thought for our friends in North Qld today as they deal with unseasonal Westerly winds:

42c so far today breaks their all-time record (since 1941) of 40.5c which was set in Dec 1995. Although Cairns Post Office did record a 43.2c in January 1923.

43.6C now at the Race Course which is a new record for anywhere in Cairns. Large number of fires showing up on the satellite with record temperatures along much of the coast :(

Something has gone whacko with the Mt Stuart AWS in Townsville. Temp of 43.7c, DP of 38.3c (must surely be an error), and App Temp of 58.1c.
