Nothing here in Ballarat as usual when it comes to storms.
Only 7 days of thunder heard this year (last one was in October.)
Did Hit 30c here though the first day in the 30's since 20-2-21.
Here was me thinking that slow-moving huge cell in the inner-east/CBD was going to expire by the time it got here, then a cell formed just to the south of us.
It has been a strange half hour or so here. It has been thundering constantly for about the past 20 minutes, one thunder clap rolling into the other. Haven't heard anything like it for a long time. We've also had large hail stones and massive drops of rain, but all in spitty bursts that has added up to just 0.4mm! The size of drops has meant that we've been under a black area on the radar.
Basically, a fair amount of this is firing up over us and then developing further as it heads east. Must be some great action going on in parts of Melbourne right now.
Some light rain finally developed, non stop thunder from the stuff to my SE but far enough away that its not loud. About 6 wind changes in the last 30 minutes. All these boundaries drifting around could make for an interesting next hour or so for some of us.
Edit: as I hit submit the sun started to come out.
Had some proper heavy rain a short while ago and now raining again, still with frequent thunder though not as intense as earlier. 5.2mm now. I see the CBD and areas to the north had a thumping.
Amazing stuff snowfall. Continuous sun since my last post. Officially a trace today (so far) . Storm SE of Ballarat looks huge atm, can see the top of it from here.
Earlier snowfall referred to a storm forming overhead and moving off, this was that storm and as close as I have got to good stuff so far
I saw a big lightening bolt hit Mt Dandenong behind Ferny Creek while driving along Ferntree Gully road. A short time later there was visible smoke coming from that area but it did seem to quickly dissipate.
