9mm here which is awesome as we know that this area can miss out! This did exceed my expectations, but then it is leading me to believe we will have a wet january with lots of storms!

Coming down hard again out here. I know one happy camper who is going to be chuffed with the rainfall he has gotten.. AV it is only because I am here that the rain has been this heavy ;)

Up to 21mm and coming down about 1mm every 5 minutes currently with fresh northerly winds.

37mm in Wallan is the highest for central districts so far but I reckon the area SW of Kinglake could be pushing 50mm given the cell they had earlier.

Winds nearly 90kmh on the bay!! Love Melbourne!!

Trough analysed back west of Melbourne at 11pm according to the BoM. Melbourne will sit under the anvil cirrus overnight once the rain slowly contracts east. Winds are encouraging giving thought that the trough has stalled in the right spot for later. This storm band may flatten out to rain as it moves away from the trigger.

Pressure went nuts here. Was 1015 this afternoon then dropped to 1010 as the trough came through, then jumped up to 1014 again now back down to 1010.

Perfect timing for us in Kerang with the storm front arriving right on midnight! :brightbanana:  Had over 15mm since then and still raining steadily.

Rain has now stopped, winds back to northerly/north easterly and temps at 21c. Will be interesting to see what happens tomorrow. I had my doubts on this one, but I was proven wrong. LUV THE WEATHER!

Rain heavy to the end here. Sitting on about 23mm and still coming down but the rain is nearly over as the N winds become near gale force here.

Northerly has hit here and rain has stopped. No more lightning or thunder either - just the sound of various firecrackers going on in the neighbourhood.

It's quite eerie outside though - quite cool which is a relief.

Finished with 24mm here with just strong winds.

Pressure trends are sharply pointing towards stormy weather. Fingers crossed it can do it all over again!!

I hope everyone had a great night, I was on the 4th floor of an apartment in Richmond and not only did we have a view but the light show was spectacular. This photo doesn't do it justice really, it looked like an enormous mothership even though it wasn't!! The different colors in the sky were stunning but all I had was my phone camera. These were taken when the front was just about to hit Geelong

Happy new year all,

31mm in the gauge this morning here. Great light show and huge window shaking thunder around midnight. Wasn't home when the majority of rain hit which was a little annoying. Very muggy atm.
