Similar here Occluded.
Just emptied another 23mm from the gauge, takes us to 66mm for this event and 125mm MTD. Yes I thought it might go too southerly for us here today to get much more, but still plenty to come over the next few days.

Just had a decent hail and graupel shower up here. Noticeably colder air now.

My new Netatmo weather station is reading 2.8C now with a wind chill temp of -3C.
The old station says 2.7C.
Its clear blue sky, stiff breeze and freezing cold air. A good brisk afternoon.

Still a nice conveyor belt of speckled clouds coming in from Bass strait and southern ocean on the 5.20pm sat pic.

Sweet, chunky, haily, cold air downdraft shower just passed overhead in Elwood. The SW stream may help us on the bay tonight.

We've gone from March temps to July temps literally overnight. Love that Melbourne changeability.

Couple more mms in FC today. Almost up to 70mm now for the event, and MTD a bit above average on 125mm :D Thinking we should get a few mms more next two days with the airstream going more westerly then a sneaky front for Saturday.

Apparently a few hail showers locally today. Max of 9C so plunged into winter :)

Frustrating how those wintry showers have just missed us most of the day to our east and west. I reckon if we were 20km further west we would be pushing 100mm already.
Already down to 5.7C here at 8pm despite the BOM forecast of a 7C minimum.

Sure has turned cold. Currently 6.5c here. Reached a maximum of 10c today but stayed below 8c once that colder air moved in. Picked up another 8.2mm today with short but heavy showers plus a hail shower. Feeling very wintry and I'm loving it.

Looking at the radar the flow has gone a tad more southerly now, and showers are now heading our way and getting a boost from Westernport Bay. It could also mean more rain for the CBD and surrounds coming straight up Port Phillip.

2.4C here now. It has been below 4C since 1.30pm. That would be a cold day for here even in mid July!
Raining again now.

5mm from 9am yesterday. Something amazing and annoying has been happening the whole night. From about 6pm, every single shower from the south has died within 1kilometre of reaching me. Very evident on the 64k radar. All whilst 5km to the east in Cranbourne and Cranbourne East they have been getting frequent showers with the rain coming from the same direction.

It is very annoying.

I wonder what Dane out that way got?

4c overnight for most of the night, lots of sunshine this morning.

The Bass strait conveyor belt still has a bit more to go looking at the sat pic. Some lovely convergence shower lines off the bay in the last few hours between the westerly and south easterly winds, with Melbourne to Wallan in the zone. As Stevco mentioned, quite frustrating if you are not in the right spot.

Bit more overnight so event starting to approach 75mm for us. Still got three days of showers ahead so could well get to 100mm. Basically comes down to subtle shifts in the convergence lines.

City currently getting hammered by coldies. Be lots of complaining office workers :P

Quite a cover on the webcams at Baw Baw this morning (looks around 10-20cm) with a less at the other resorts (a cm or two).

Geez it's cold this morning; 2C when I got up and only 3C now with a stiff breeze. Snow level must be down to 700-800m if you're under a shower.

Gee wiz!!! Just realised that the CBD has had more rain then nearly any suburb this month. Currently at about 12omm for the month (107mm til yesterday and another 15 so far for today's stats)

Gordon wrote: Wed Apr 26, 2017 10:08 am Well what an amazing month. 'Only' 22mm for us for the event so far, but brings us to 118mm mtd, which comfortably smashes our previous April record (20 year) of 100mm, and there's a bit more to come.

After a dire autumn rainfall outlook from BOM: http://www.bom.gov.au/climate/ahead/arc ... look.shtml, we have already comfortably exceeded our average for autumn (20yr average 151mm vs 2017 autumn-to-date 163mm) and it isn't even the end of April :).
Agree Gordon, BoM's long term outlook missed this Autumn break scenario that has unfolded in Victoria. Kyneton (178mm) hasn't seen April rain to this level since 1939 (215mm). There are many expert theories flying around in the last 24 hours about how it has occurred. Here is my amateur theory, it's all about the East and West temp changes in the Indian ocean currently underway IMO. http://www.theaustralianweatherforum.co ... 65#p100265 :)
