Rumbles and light rain now falling here at Scarsdale. We may get a smashing in the next 30 mins if whats on the radar holds up. Nice to be home for once when something happens.
A big cluster with a cloud tops near -60c has developed in the Wimmera (in the radar black hole). It's really bubbling away in western Vic now. I think the BoM should extend the area of that Severe thunderstorm warning out there.
Was in garden all afternoon and it felt like 28 so surprised we only got to 23c
Still a balmy 21c and winds NE
Feels stormy
EC and GFS have 50mm here over the next 3 days
Will be happy with that if it comes off
The Bay effect will hopefully come on if the winds stay SW
Progs look good the next few days. Low slipping through tomorrow then strong front for Wednesday. Pretty consistent 25-50mm falls across most of southern and mountain Vic, and spot falls towards 75mm.
Good falls out west already with plenty of 20mm+ falls. Suspect there's some heavy rain lurking in the radar gap to Melbourne's northwest.
3mm so far in FC from showers mainly this morning. Thinking the storms will probably slide south of us, but still gotta be a chance for development to the north so not entirely writing it off.
Dynamic system this one….. it continues to deepen with the Baro here at 1012 hPa and falling. Atmospheric river running at about 30 to 35mm into central Victoria. Cluster cells continue to weaken then re-intensify but less sparks than earlier. Going to be some good totals in the morning
The storm that grazed here was rogue low intensity mesocyclone that shot off almost directly south from the other clusters that were heading SE. Had a little black core as it slammed into the dividing range which tore it to shreds. The Geelong cell was a cracker. Here was the 6.18pm radar for the thread records.

Had a brief shower earlier this evening. Could see the lightning down towards Geelong. Just about to start raining here judging by the radar. Very mild - 16.2c and thick fog.
Some great totals in the south west metro area but nothing out this way yet. Will see what the morning brings. Many thanks to Jasmine for the analysis too, very handy to get a grip on the situation.
Here here! Always enjoy the expert input from JS, hillybilly and others.
Steady rain from this second band after the first missed us by only a kilometre or so. Nothing spectacular just yet, though the radar looks good just to our west and there's a new(ish) STW for us.
Cracked 100mm for the month in Lara. We've had 23mm here since 5:30pm. It's very wet around as the ground is saturated. A lot more rain further south in Geelong. This is the wettest April I can recall, wetter then 2001.
