What I'd give to push this thing a little more east. Looks awesome to be in! Happy to be sat on the sand in boardies and tee watching in May!

Strangely enough my Instagram just reminded me of on this day 2 years ago, same set up, intense light show over the bay!

What is the blue area between Sheoaks and Werribee now on Doppler? Another Meso?

(Sorry if I am being a pain, but I am keen to learn :D )

It showed signs of rotation but never fully matured like the meso you spotted earlier. That early one was a clear rogue rotating meso.

BoM now got the pre-empt Severe thunderstorm and weather warnings. No choice really with this Jet stream powered outbreak. The speed at which some of these cells will appear and travel during the next 12 hours will be Incredible.

Long time no post....
Anyhooo, just wanted to report that we just got smashed by a cell. 200mm/hr rain rate. 22mm in short order. Gutters couldn't cope, lots of water in the sheds, and rivers running down the block. Too dark too see any other "damage"

I like rain, but maybe not all at once :o

Came back from town to find another 24mm in the gauge, so we're up to 34.5mm.

A bit of the driveway is gone, but a small price to pay for the autumn break!

Stawell 47mm last hour
Mildura up to 21mm with 2 smalls cells, 15mm in 10 mins parents places flooded in back room

Lots more storms forming and trainging and lots more to develop in the coming hours

Nice fall Gordon will easy get that agin tonight lots more to come

On and north of ranges going to do well tonight
NE get smashed easy 50 to 80mm with many in the 100 to 150mm mark in spots up there tomorrow and tomorrow night lots of heavy rain there

5-15mm for Melb up to 25mm in spots should get heavy burst in the morning

Stawell's now over 50mm in little more than an hour!

Meanwhile, pleasantly surprised how well we've done given rain-shadowing probs we often have with systems from the north (we are about 15km south of the Divide). I think HB mentioned earlier that NW rain is worst for this; directly from the N may be better?

I don't think I've seen the sky so clear with that many stars visible in quite a few months now. No sign of rain at all down here. Not complaining though. It's been green the whole summer here

Jasmine, HB, Jake,
I've got a great vantage point down the beach this evening waiting for the lightning but any idea whether it's worth waiting or do you think it'll be like the early hours of the morning ?

Excellent totals in areas that need it most.

Central areas are in line, though it may shift too far east before the band has fully developed
