Slightly warmer here in Bundy than yesterday morning. Hopefully the day repeats because it was a stunning day here yesterday.

It has been picture perfect weather Hoffa. Can’t complain, but I am looking forward to tomorrow. A large high will send a very strong ridge across Southern Qld resulting in dry and cool air and a drop in min and max temperatures. Metro area will see maybe a high of 18 - 19°C but only for a short period around 1400 - 1500 ( 2:00 - 3:00 pm).
Western suburbs and district will be cooler. Monday warms up by a couple of degrees. But just nice to have a few cooler days for winter. The ridge will slowly move north over the next few days.
I think summer is going to be hot and dry again at this stage.

Bracken Ridge 0604

4.7°C Minimum @ 0608
5.1°C current temp
2.1°C feels like temp
84% RH
Winds from WSW, very gentle with max. gust of 15km/h.

Found it be a lot colder than yesterday morning. Warwick and Stanthorpe are well below °C this morning while Toowoomba has managed just to stay above 0°C.
I won’t put their figures in so those living in those areas can post them, but it is cold around Warwick and to the south.

Cheers
Colin

Ahh I just found out my login for these forums from almost a decade ago still works on here. Hi everyone.

Anyway this morning saw the 4th frost of the season so far here (near the border of Rochedale and Wishart in southside Brisbane) – they’ve been fewer than normal here so far this season due to all the unseasonably warm nights until recently.

I sometimes wonder if frost is vastly under-reported by people in this region due to the fact that unless it’s a heavy frost where all the grass turns obviously white, light isolated patchy frost on marginal frost days often goes unnoticed by many people (especially considering most people wouldn’t bother to go outside so early on a cold morning and to search for ice crystals on grass blades just to see if there’s frost).

I admire your dedication Ken. My electric blanket does a good job stopping me from checking frost early in the morning. :P

Hi Ken. Great to see you posting on AWF. That will be a complete bonus to this forum. You have made my day. :D
Just love your pic' of the frost on the leaves.
I have only seen one frost at Kingscliff and that was very early in the morning. 5am is not my best time to see such wonders.

Got zapped by static electricity twice yesterday. Dew point got down to 2deg the night before and hovered around the 6-7deg mark yesterday.
Even have dry lips from the cold winter air today.or hope its not a virus.
Winds were from the SW here yesterday bringing in air from the interior of NSW

Currently at Bracken Ridge ( 0608)
Current temp 7.9°C
Feels like 4°C
RH 72 %
Minimum 6.7°C at 0402
A very gentle SW wind at times.

The current trend appears to be a continuation of the dry cooler air mass due to a firm ridge across QLD maybe a degree or 2 warmer during the day but nights still colder. The High is weakening and will move quicker on Saturday generating slightly more unstable conditions that “may” result in a shower or 2 over the South east. Another high moves up from the Tasman giving us slightly warmer temps (both Min. and Max.) from Sunday onwards from the onshore flow it will create.

Thanks Dormant and Jake :)

On this day 4 years ago, the SE QLD highlands (more specifically, the Granite Belt) saw the best snow accumulations since the widespread snowfalls of 1984... and it was also the 3rd and biggest snowfall within 6 days of that week.

Some trees were bent over with the weight of the snow and strong winds also caused some downed branches.
The weight of the snow also caused costly damage to netting in some vineyards in the region.
Brief overnight snowfalls were also observed in areas like Cunningham’s Gap, Toowoomba, etc and the Bunya Mountains also got a spectacular coating of rime ice.

Here’s some of my snowchase images combined with soundtracks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QODJcq7sPeI

Brisbane still looks on track for min temps to become warmer through much of next week, even warmer than normal on some of the days (but not before a few more cold mornings, especially this Friday). Meanwhile, max temps also look to rise next week, and on some days become warmer than normal as well.

Noting the freezer barometer this past dew days. Open her up and she looks as though she has been turned off. No condensation.
We have had low dew points and dry air.SW air stream
Noting that the dew point climbed from 7deg overnight and started climbing as the wind changed from SW to S/SE mid morning.
Currently at dew point of 13 deg c from coolongatta obs'.
Just looked at ACC G and nothing coming up that is noteworthy, this week.Great weather for rhe school holidays and tourists on the Gold coast.
