Wild evening up here with gusts roaring through the trees. Rain inbound, and anticipating around 10mm overnight.
Wind is going to be the real feature of this one with gales on the coast and ranges each of the next four days. There is going to be some big waves (likely over 10m on the west coast) and significant coastal erosion.
Rain totals look very handy, particularly the coastal strip and northeast where totals will be north of 100mm before it finishes.
Btw the low just to our southwest is a cracker. Down around 990hPa near King Island ATM.

By the 1600 synoptic, we could get down to 996hpa overnight which going by the current baro trend, wouldn't surprise me.

Kilmore Gap obs (just up the hill from here) are showing gusts to 80klm/h currently. Getting consistent gusts between 35 - 40 here in town.
(the Kilmore Gap AWS is located on a hill known as Pretty Sally - a name dating back to the gold rush era)

Horsham just had multiple 106 km/h gusts. It's only 130m ASL, so it's mixing down nicely from 850 hPa.

Is this wind going to go all night?
Hate it. Already some large branches down.

Yep, absolute pure filth here.
I'll be so relieved when this windy crap is over. Going to be a long couple of days (or week for that matter).

It's so windy in Templestowe atm that my rubbish bins keep falling over! Hopefully it stops soon so I can actually keep them upright.

Absolutely pouring, there's even hail mixed in this. Flash and bang and wind blowing a gale! Bin night here, few have gone for a ride in the gusts!

Finally a decent winter rumble in the sky here.
Been blowing a gale all evening, we got a 87kph gust at the closet station (Moorabbin Airport)
Keeping an eye out on power outages, but so far so good.

14mm here so far. With once-a-few-decades rain in May and June, starting to think about the consequences of too
much rain - an unusual sensation!
