Nice about the snow Macedonian - we had a very heavy graupel shower and temp down to 3C, so not surprised. Currently back up to 5C and surprisingly (and pleasantly!) calm. Wind has been crap this month.
We got a welcomed 8mm rain which mostly fell early/mid morning. The odd shower about this arvo, but geez it got cold here during it. Very little breeze with this event so far here. Back to winter big time here 28mm here so far this month, hoping this week can deliver more!
Chilly damp day here today, but not a lot in it. All the showers were a bit half assed another 3mm in the gauge. Had a bit of graupel/hail. Max of 8.3C.
Few more showers still to come. Winds are a bit too southerly so Tassie rain shadow will kick in fair soon. Big fall out in eastern NSW and potential Gippsland.
We had more snow overnight, I can see white lawns though the pre-dawn gloom. Temp got down to zero earlier and on 0.2 now.
Nasty wind has been blasting away all night.
Home- "Shepherd's Bush" at Mt Macedon. 870m
Work- "Bolobek" at Macedon. 430m
Not surprised to see it snowing up there, Macedonian. We've been fluctuating around 2-3c here this morning, with occasional showers and sleet. A further 7mm here yesterday afternoon and overnight, making it up to 11mm since Sunday. Not exactly huge numbers but it helps when things have been a bit dry recently.
About 15mm here for event, handy rain and needed ths time of year.
The wetlands south of Sale are carrying good numbers of breeding birds, nice to see.
Currently 8.6C and S/W of 19km. Quite a lot of southerly wind flow over next three or so days, be
good to see the ECL spin up some better rain here but forecasts showing best rain from about
Orbost east.
Chilly max of 7.5C here yesterday. Had a few light hail and rain showers with 2mm more. Puts the event on 8.4mm so well below most models
Headed for a really dry month - out average is about 140mm for August and don't think we will crack 100mm from here. Just the odd shower the next two days with lingering cold air.
Crazy system on the NSW coast. The wave buoys showing waves which have been estimate to be about 1 in 50 year size. Fortunately the swell is southerly so not that bad for erosion as it runs along the coast rather than smashing into the coast.

Very dry here atm. Drought like conditions.
This Sunday might deliver 12mm which would be nice, but it looks stinking hot and dry after that.
Yeah what's happened to our wet winter? And neg IOD with onset of predicated La Nïna not manifesting themselves for most of the state thus far
LWT and MJO have not been in the right spot for the past few weeks. Now the AAO is heading the wrong direction so early-Sept is a write-off too. Maybe something in the 2nd week of September to get the creeks flowing again via an incursion of tropical moisture (which is showing up in the BOM outlook)... Incidentally, Darwin had rain yesterday - an early start to the wet season perhaps?

Meanwhile, stuck under another band of freezing drizzle today; another 5mm since yesterday. 5C now and hasn't got much higher.
Has really been a western side of the bays system. Just 0.2mm here and quite sunny. Cool with a max of 8.6C.
Sunday looks like it could be quite thundery. Next week in EC is OMG. 850Ts over Vic of 20C. That’s disturbingly high. Would be widespread 30s if that came off

We had an early frost this morning. Still very dry. EC reckons 16mm here on Sunday which will be very welcome before the incoming hairdryer on Sept 2-3. Looks short-lived thankfully, and there are hints of decent rain with the front. Early days though.
After our 8mm on a very cold Monday, Tuesday provided another 7.5mm at a far colder 12.5C max.
0.75mm from SE'ly mist yesterday at 13.5C, but copped our last winter hurrah today, a max of 11C and 3.75mm tallied from frequent misty southerly bursts.
Looking forward to a persistent drizzly night to add to our 20mm received for this thread. That cutoff low sitting near stationary out in the "ditch" is delivering for us nicely after a very dry (14.25mm) July.
There will be plenty of snow on the south faces of the divide that will look magnificent when huey decides to let us see up that far, and guaranteed great flows down the Macalister R into the Gippy lakes for next 6 weeks at least imo. Lake Glenmaggie is currently passing a near-minor flood through the dam as it manages a flood buffer for the looming snow melt season.
This event sets up Gippsland for a hugely productive spring. Hopefully there will be staff available to pick the vegies.
Chilly day yesterday with a few spits. All the rain to out southeast with a nice area of warm air advection coming in from the east. Good for Gippsland which had turned dry.
Half arsed system for Sunday. Might still surprise, with the chance of a rumble.
Then serious early season heat next week. It looks extraordinary. Expecting low to mid 30s in the north and high 20s to 30C south. Detail might budge still, but regardless will be one of the warmest events so early in spring. Only just missed winter Am expecting Melbourne will eventually crack 30C in August. We got close in early spring 2009. Expect this one will similar get pretty close.
