Just poured out 48mm that started at 2am this morning as light drizzly showers, we are now in a full blown easterly rain event, looks set in for the night around these parts.

With Lake Glenmaggie full, and the being forced up into the Licola mountains, we surely must end up with a moderate flood of the Macalister R here on Sun/Mon.

Image

Getting lots of rain under this synoptic scenaro for Nth Gippsland is quite rare acc. to my records back to 1982, normally for these conditions the baro is sitting near 1016hPa. Rain slashing down here as I type.

[edit] - note that LLC over Corowa has been stationary for past 6 hrs.

Winds are picking up from South now. No rain since 3pm due to rainshadow. Event total 11mm.

Quite a remarkable conveyor belt of cold air into Eastern Australia.

Fog and rain all day here. 12mm since 9am and a max of 8.9C. Totals steadily climbing. Expect the first river gauges to go over minor flooding soon out east. We always struggle a bit in easterly set ups in the Nongs with lots of topography between us and the ocean. The southern parts do a lot better than the northern parts despite only being 10-20kms part.

35mm here for the thread. Expect tomorrow to start our particularly wet in east central as we go from cyclonic southeast to southwest flow.

Our new place in Howden has clocked up 18mm today. That’s 70mm for the thread :o

Horribly windy at Mt Macedon from mid-afternoon. South-south easterly is the worst for me as it funnels up the ancient exploded volcanic crater that is Mt Macedon.
No idea how much rain because the bom still havent fixed our clickable dot.
I would guess about 40mm when I look at my nylex.
Really cold today. 4.3C min to 7.4C max.
My third sub 10 max in a row and about three or four more of those to come before it warms up a little.
Home- "Shepherd's Bush" at Mt Macedon. 870m
Work- "Bolobek" at Macedon. 430m

It has been non-stop rain here from about 8am. Up to 40mm now since last night. I drove into Gisborne earlier this evening and there’s plenty of water around. Lots of small lakes in paddocks, streams and waterfalls coming down hillsides and drains overflowing. It’s obvious the ground was already saturated before the rain today, so it’s practically all run-off.

MTD here is now 128mm so already another big month to add to a very wet spring.

Tipped out 28mm just now from the manual gauge, so that is 43mm so far for this event.

Was nasty here last night for a while. Not June 2021 nasty, but strong enough to make you nervous about the 70m mountain ash on the east side of the house. They are about 50m away, but that still leaves 20m of damage :?

14mm in the gauge and still foggy. Looks like it’s about to dump again shortly with the swly soon to push through.Event just shy of 40mm now,

Solid falls in west central and Gippsland. Not the biblical event on some of the alarming uk runs from earlier in the week, probably more in,one with the EC.

Snow starting to fall in the alps. Could well be 50-100cm on the ground when this finishes.

Btw looks good for storms tomorrow. Not a big tropical event, but more storms mid arvo front tapping bit of residual moisture. Be fast moving so expect gusty winds and perhaps a bit of small hail.

13mm for the event and that's about it.

It does feel like winter though.

Made it to 10mm here in the rain shadow north of the mountain. Expecting this next shower to fade away before it gets here. Ground is wet, tanks are full, don’t need anymore rain.

50mm for this event… we don’t need anymore for a while! The Werribee river is raging this morning.

I’m down in Rye at the moment and it has been absolutely smashing down for the past hour under that train of southerly flow. If the same rain rates hit southern Melbourne there will be streets under water!

Slowing down at the moment.

Ended up with 27.5mm yesterday, takes us to 43mm since Wednesday night.

Has been dry here this morning, but looks like turn quite wet again this arvo as the south westerly flow reaches us here.

20.5mm here, 39mm for the dates.

Relieved to miss the worst of that freakin' wind yesterday - another lot of trees down, and the novelty would have begun to wear off :(.

Also very happy to have missed the wind on this occasion. We’ve already been hammered too many times this year.

47mm here since yesterday and 68mm since Wednesday. A bit of drizzle starting up now after a few hours of being dry this morning. Everywhere is extremely wet and boggy.

Only 13mm here
Just shy of the 60mm I predicted :?
Probably will end up with about 30mm once all said and done
As per usual I should have known these rain events fizzle for me as it gets shredded off the ranges
These big lows look like continuing weekly for a while....great stuff :)

Easterly wrap events are the hardest to pick. Don’t happen a lot and each is very different. Quite random too as the rain rates can be high so sitting in a hole like the middle suburbs did for a few hours can knock the totals down.

Very wintery 8.9C here today with a further 8mm. Event not far off 50mm now. Tomorrow looks like mid winter front but with spring sunshine. Should fire early arvo :D

Snow to sea level about southern Tasmania tomorrow night, but we miss it in Victoria with snow levels dropping to about 800m give or take.

A further 13.25mm here, mostly from some very heavy showers yesterday morning.

56.25mm since Wednesday. Looking good for another 10mm later today too.
