Thread for the long warm then hot spell developing as we approach the Christmas then New Year period. There is a big dome of hot air in place not far to our northwest currently and this will get dragged south as a high anchors east of Tasmania/Victoria and a low develops in the Bight.
Expecting two to four 40s in the Mallee with Melbourne seeing around five mid 30s. Might well get close to 40C in the burbs.
Doesn’t look like ending with rain for most, with the low tending to slip south, but always a chance that might change.
Ironical that after the cold start to summer that December could well end up above average for much of VIC
