I was in Piper Street Kyneton last night as that torrential downpour hit at 7pm. I finally got to observe what those huge deep bluestone street gutters that you see in a lot of old central vic towns are for!
I scored 36mm for the Friday. 8mm through the day and then the big shabooey in the evening whilst we were out.
So happy. It had been the worst November of my 20 years at Mt Macedon as far as rainfall. Possibly still is but at least it's not desperately low as it was up until yesterday. 47mm mtd. Should be more like 80 but I no complain.

We had our first bushfire issue here on Wednesday
Someone left their backyard burn-off unattended and before too long there were about eight brigades and a water bombing helicopter. People playing with fire when they should be much more careful.

23mm here. Great to finally have some heavy rain. Some good thunder and lightning action last night too.

We could do with more, especially to reduce fire risk, but an inch is very welcome nonetheless. Hope everyone gets something decent today.

Nice cell just now here. Absolutely teeming down. Queensland-style. Humid, no wind. Rain coming straight down. I expected a little something later, so this is a bonus.

Edit> thunder heard too

Some very majestic tall clouds out there today but all seeming to form too much to my south - have not heard any thunder for a long time here.

See what today brings, so far it hasnt really been playoung out like the models thought so its a matter of just watching to see where they form it seems...

fingers crossed for something here

I've heard thunder in two different periods today, including several now. Melbourne overall is in a hole looking at the radar. Could well get interesting later

There appears to be rotation to the West of Melbourne that should start to spin the rain into the metro area around 6pm.

Wow great system for some, huge falls in parts of Mallee and Wimmera though some not wanted 70 to 100mm in parts :o :o :o

Was in Mildura this week, 3 days of hot humid stormy weather heavy rain, lots lightning.
Fri morning storm with Dps in low 20s was unreal, pouring tropical torrentail rain tropical style quick flash flooding and viloent lightning so much so the mildura runway got a hole in it from lightning punched through tarmac and exploded little hole crazy and storms at 10-11am in Mildura and hazy low st afterwards in high 20 temps was like north Qld unreal morning
Then chased mallee yesterday some impressive splitting sups and awesome light show on sunset lots of water about on sides of roads in paddocks.

36mm up there, near 40mm at home, tanks all full will green things up very nicely over months worth of rain.

Melb as always misses out trough moved through to early today, some beast of storms out east 5cm hail, 30 to 40mm in 30 mins type stuff impressive.

Wrap around will impact us later this evening overnight with cooler showery condtions

Next low follows acros the North on Tues with more heavy rain and severe storms, then another on Friday more hevay rain and stroms did someone say we in a Neg IOD and La Nina lol humid wet stormy all over E and SE Aus atm while the west bakes.

Lots more rain and stroms to come this week amazing.
Bring on the heat and stroms

Rainy Saturday for southern and eastern TAS. Best falls were to the north and east of Hobart. Wasn’t well picked by the progs with a little low forming in the trough close to the Tasman Peninsula.

Messy slow clearing trend then the next trough comes in mid week. The whole system doesn’t really clear out for ten plus days. Perhaps time to extend the dates. Could be some very large falls on east facing coasts. EC has over 500mm, for example, for parts of south coast NSW 😳

Another 5mm so far today, 18mm for the dates. Not a patch on some of the totals posted to date, but I'll take it!

Great post as always [smention u=1558]QldTwister[/smention] love your mix of enthusiasm and analysis.

Really interesting week coming up for E/SE Australia with some models showing massive rainfall totals in some spots. About 15mm in Elwood since start of the thread and 30 in Mansfield.

Largely missed out in Melbourne's East.

15.4mm on Friday, 1mm on Saturday (storms developed just to the east of us), and a further 2.2mm since midnight today.

Event total 18.6mm. Not too bad, but would have loved a storm. The grass is drying rapidly.

27.8mm MTD, below average.
