Stinking hot 36C here. Suspect that’s a late season record but can’t be sure. Cooler here for tomorrow with cloud and some rain. It’s parched dry here now. Having to water the trees to keep them from turning up their heals. Fantastic beach weather with quite a bit of humidity and fairly light winds.
Heats rolls for VIC. Guess tomorrow is basically a repeat of today but starting from a much higher base. Fortunately winds aren’t too bad and humidity stay reasonable.
Looks like the 9am temps yesterday means Melbourne missed out on a new March record high minimum. Same for Hobart where the overnight 24C is nearly 3C above the 24 hour minimum record
Suspected quite a few records will have been approached or broken around both states. This airmass is stinking hot but also fairly moist which is unusual.
Minimum of 21C here which is our hottest for summer 2023/24 by miles.
Hot hot hot for vic today. Rain for TAS. Could be quite heavy in spots, but patchy. Hoping for a few mms at least down here.
24.9c was the minimum here. I'd have to go back through my records, but I reckon it would have been many years since last having an overnight minimum that high, if at all.
For the coming week, there's still a fair bit of movement on the models. At this stage, rainfall totals are looking fairly modest overall, but any amount is welcome given the current drought.
Remarkable contrast between southern TAS and the rest of southeast Oz today. Min was 20C here and max was 21C with misty haze which eventually became a thick fog down to about 100m. Has been raining all afternoon, though mainly lightly with just over 3mm so far. Most spots have seen 2-6mm so far, though few spots in the hills north of Hobart have seen 10mm. The cloud band isn’t budging so should get another 6-12 hours of light rain. Given the drought here anything is welcome.
Stinkers roll on for most of VIC. Near 40C for most parts. Cooler from Tuesday, and maybe some rain, though looks mainly Bass Strait and Eastern Vic system. Airmass stat way warmer than average right through so nothing really autumnal for the mainland. Looks like a proper shot of colder air about a week from now.
Rainy night here with just over 6mm. Wettest day in nearly two months Clearing to a muggy day but mostly fine.
Last really hot one for VIC, for a week. Could be another stinker about this time next week for the mainland.
Solid front for tomorrow, but unfortunately it missed the tropical moisture so just showers. Weak trough for Wednesday and Thursday with some rain. New thread for that
A bit of cloud around today, which feels like it's taking the edge off it a bit, although it's still 30c here at the moment after an overnight low of 21c.
Hopefully we'll still see some rain on Wednesday/Thursday, but there is a wide divergence between models. In the latest runs, EC wants to give a fairly widespread 10-20mm across the southern half of Vic but GFS is forecasting almost nothing despite being only a couple of days out. I guess the picture will become clearer tomorrow.
Ripper long weekend beaches packed, everyone out and about at beaches, pools, freinds pools, BBQs unreal about time summer arrived last 6 weeks has being classic Summer hot dry
Last hot day for summer but hopefully few more low 30s to come before thats it for like 8 months or so
Things are brown but rain will return later this month and Apr May so everything be green again soon
Just enjoy this heat after cold Nov Dec Jan
But loving all this extreme flip flops and weather and only going to keep getting bigger in coming years as we pump more and more heat into the atmosphere exciting times loving it
Really muggy 21C max here. Still had fog in the trees at noon.
Cool change with a bit of rain inbound overnight. Unfortunately a dry front for vic, but then some showers for Wednesday and Thursday.
Just enjoy this heat after cold Nov Dec Jan
It’s been way warmer than average. OZ just had its third hottest summer, and Vic was more than a degree above average. This comes after Oz warmest combined winter- spring on record.
Yes for much of Aus it was crazy hot summer, west, central and northern Aus but not in parts of Vic, Tas and SA.
Yes mins way higher most of summer for everyone, but you dont notice them as much cuase your sleeping inside etc.
Plus these days people only care about/notice their house, there street, there local weather condtions and that is there summer/winter/spring was what they felt/experinced locally.
Look how much you post about the weather for your local area its how it is, we all do it cause its whats happening at our house.
Weather is what we experince, climate is what we expect , experinced a cool summer (till Feb/March) in Melb and the stats show that
Monthly Maxs Ts where cool in Melb with lack of hot days till last few weeks
Oct -0.7 below
Nov -0.4 below
Dec -0.4 below
Jan -0.7c below
Feb + 0.7 above
But have loved the last 4 to 6 week and next 2 to 4 weeks should be nive to till front and cool to cold air returns Apr May typicak of most years
Anyway ripper day again today down beach bay is nice too back to 20s tomorrow but dam so nice outside atm in high 20s loving it sitting outside atm

Locally in Melbourne it's been cooler this summer, and it hasn't gone unnoticed

What’s up with Coldstream living up to its name, 19 degrees and still 28 in Scoresby? Is it an error?
I agree, I have been seeing inaccuracies in temps for this area, for a few weeks now, vast difference to what I am witnessing in Lilydale. Thanks for sharing.
GFS is still not interested in much rain this week in Vic, except maybe east Gippsland. Other models are a bit over the place, but have generally downgraded overall. Might be something better in a week's time, but it's a long way out.
