Something from nothing? Showers and storms 20 March - ?

From what was looking like a dry week only a few days ago, odds now seem to be firming for fairly widespread showers and storms from late Wednesday into Thursday, with the possibility of further action into next week.

Yeah sneaky one this one last 24 hours looking like widespread showers/rain and storms in parts of SA and much of Vic.

Sadly best falls central and eastern Vic again, but hopefully many looking at 5 to 10mm for those in the west and north, more with storms looking more widespread than last event.

Could be quite wet for Melb looking at another 15-25mm with more 30 to 50mm east of city and into the hills and mounts isol heaiver falls with storms. Could be few spot 30-50mm falls about central and eastern Vic 2 events in 1 weeks pattern is shifting

NE ranges could see 50 to 80mm looking wet

Another weak front around Monday with more and possible big event late next week pattern shifting indeed

But im fine here dump all my rain in W and N Vic please

Looks good for the eastern half of Victoria with a lot of storms. Rainband for western Tasmania. Rest in the gradient region so involves luck. The tropics are very active as MJO is no longer unfavourable and record local SSTs are doing their thing. Hopefully opens the window for a wet end to March.

BOM predicting between 2-8mm here and looking at models there doesn’t appear much more this month according to EC. Not much change there. Massive swell on the Surf Coast today, anyone know why. By the way a report in the Financial Times said Carbon Dioxide levels in at atmosphere has reached a 800,000 year high.

Active day tomorrow lots of showers, rain and thunderstorms across the state starting in the NW early morning then expolding from lunch time across north and central areas with rainband to follow with front across the south and thunderstroms tending to rain areas in E, NE Vic, heavy falls in NE Vic looking likely.

15 to 25mm city and much of E SE burbs higher falls up to 40mm into dandys, yarra ranges etc another soaking 2 in a week
Western burbs might only be in the 5 to 10mm range

Along the murray could see good stroms tomorrow with isol heavy falls.

2 weather events next week all but gone on models now as huge high pressure systems and ridges take over so after tomorrow looks like wont rain again till into April

Enjoy tomorrow showers moving into NW vic in coming hours should be a fun day

BTW ripper hot sunny day today think be last low 30s in Melbourne day now with April not far away.

Not currently as well organised as it appeared in the models. EC still holding for storms through central around 3-4ish. But the current conditions are uninspiring..

Its early long way to go next 12 to 18 hours many will see rain and storms front still way back in SA

Adelaide has had like 8mm wettest day in many months

Mildura has had 5mm from nice storm this morning wettest day for them since last year

Lots showers patchy rain across the state will only bulid as day goes on hot sunny humid in far NW Vic so stroms will explode there later today and rainband will thicken in western Vic during day and bulid further across central Vic.

Radar is lighting up statewide now and you can feel the humid air pouring in. I'm hoping for 25mm to add to the 25mm from Sunday morning here in Bayside. The wind is getting a little crazy out there too.

@QldTwister Agree. Awhile to go yet and patience is required. Seems Melb could get multiple bursts of showers/storms over the next 12 hours or so.

Nice downpour when I passed through @Lighthouse's part of the world an hour or two ago. Fingers crossed for a bit more down that way!

Back to find 6mm in our gauge and still raining - a start at least.

rain starting here now big band of rain to move through wet 6 to 9 hours ahead for many of us here and lots stroms along the murray

Brilliant so far, just ticked over 10mm and still raining hard. Will end up our best fall since November 30. Looking forward to seeing some green shoots around here soon. Hope it doubles before it finishes.
