Belted down here but only for 5 or so mins, got very dark before hand, looks like Frankston way much heaiver and longer lasting lots of 30 to 40mm falls down there.

Rainband breaking up a bit a surispre, big storms allong the murray with isol heavy falls that will move into NE Vic with heavy falls in the ranges

Yeah you get a few more showers SB but def a miss for you.

Looking like 10-20mm for most of metro with more showers to come overnight few 5-10mm falls in W/SW which is nice and along the Otways

showers and patchy rain to contuine overnight but only light falls once band moves through
Bring on the heat and stroms

23mm in the Davis, but 32mm in the manual Nylex.
36mm at the Melbourne Water Cranbourne Botanic Gardens, which is only 1.5km away. All that rain in under 30 minutes.
Heaviest rain for that amount of time in a while. Plenty of flash flooding around. We seemed to have copped the worst here/Langwarrin/Frankston

Good to see plenty of decent falls, but a bugger for SB - hoping you pick up something from the tail end... (Seem to have lost my shorthand emoji post options, otherwise would have posted a sad face.)

19mm here so far; hoping to crack 20mm with a bit left out west of us.

Ripper system for central, going from drought conditions to flash floods inside a week. Bummer it’s not shared around, but hopefully the rest of us get a turn soon. Good for western Tasmania, but a bit of a dud for many other parts. Shame to see western Victoria miss out and northern country. Those areas really need something.

Was never going to be a southeast TAS system and only 2mm here. Shame as it’s pretty dry now.

Incoming rain-band is doing nothing, and it's thin. All over.

With a looming El-Nino this year, I have genuine fears that 2025 could be our driest year on record.

4mm today. All over. About a third of even the most pessimistic forecast this morning. Big fail.

29mm here since Dec 8. Dams are empty, and paddocks are dust. Dire.

Finished with 11.8mm. Very welcome but fizzled out a bit earlier than I expected. Had around 17mm for the week, hopefully the start of something. Still in drought but at least some of the grass will have a green tinge.

Not that I put much weight on SOI (or IOD) these days, but genuinely interested that you see a looming El Nino? This from BOM's climate driver page on 18 March:

"The El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) is neutral. SSTs in the central tropical Pacific have risen since February, with the latest Niño3.4 value (+0.14 °C for the week ending 16 March) remaining firmly within the neutral range and reaching a positive value for the first time since August 2024.
The Bureau's model predicts neutral ENSO (neither El Niño nor La Niña) until at least August. This is consistent with all surveyed international models."

Did well down this way. It was one of those very 'light' seeming downpours that is actually torrential

Finished on 1.6mm. We’ve scraped almost 20mm in the past week but with so many unusually hot days in the past week it’s pretty hard to tell. 29C back to back in mid March is pretty unusual down here.

Progs look lean now :( maybe the odd shower. Seasons are really screwy with heat the main theme, and rainfall pretty random tbh. Guess the weakening of the westerlies is the one feature that persists, so you are reliant on random big events which alway turn out to be hit and miss.

I’m pretty surprised at how much the pacific has warmed the past few weeks, but it’s all very shallow tied to brief westerly winds near South America. That won’t trigger an El Niño. I’d expect the far eastern Pacific will cool again. The warmth around Australia is off the scale. Would expect that to help with the supply of tropical moisture.

18.5mm here - excellent follow up to the 35mm we scored last Sunday. We missed the best of the heavy band that was training back to the NW around sunset last night. It skirted just to our north as evidenced by the 25mm total at the Nilma AWS (~5km to our east). Can't complain about that though as its far better falling on the farms on that side of town rather than the built up areas.

Looking at the milder temps next week, I reckon that's getting pretty close to an autumn break for us, the yard is already greening up and soil moisture improving.

Progs gone quiet. Little front for today in Tasmania, then something around Thursday. Inbetween nice days, and mostly mild.

Good for grass growing if you have had rain.

Tropics are really going off. Looks more like January than mid March. The monsoon trough could well sit half way down the Queensland coast if progs are correct with heavy falls through the channel country etc.

12mm here after 26mm Sunday so 38mm for the week and things have greened up so quick. :o :o

Other rain events next week all gone now :o back to huge high pressure systems dry sunny days fine by me but terrible news for those wanting rain in SA and western and northern Vic

Soaking rain along the murray and much of NE and E vic with this front reports of 40 to 60mm at farms either side of mallee with storms so some very lucky others near nothing

Dry mild sunny weak warm late next week but nohing major for 7 to 10 days now possily longer and as we move into Apr to June tis season of huge high pressure systems too

Huge massive flood event this week for western and inland Qld 100s mm to fall up there next week
Bring on the heat and stroms
